“I greatly enjoyed the STARMUS festival. It is a combination of
science and rock music, both of which I love. I hope there is a
STARMUS next year, and you invite me. In a world beset by so
many terrible problems, and so lacking in solutions, STARMUS
offers a ray of hope. “

BEYOND THE HORIZON STARMUS 2016
In its third edition, Starmus goes "far beyond the horizon" and pays tribute to Stephen Hawking, a scientist for the
ages who has played a unique role in conveying science and the excitement of progress to the general public.
In addition to his contribution as a theoretical physicist, he is one of the great examples of humanity exceeding
adversity in our time and an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
For this homage, Starmus has confirmed the attendance of 12 Nobel prize-winners in a number of disciplines

STARMUS 2016 VENUE
The Canary Islands—the stage for Starmus
Once again, Tenerife and La Palma are the stages around which the Starmus universe will revolve, as they are two of the world's top
astrotourism destinations. The Canary Islands is one of the best places in the world to observe the stars because its skies are protected from
atmospheric and light pollution.
The two islands are home to some of the world's most important telescopes: the Teide Observatory, on Tenerife, and the Roque de los
Muchachos Observatory, on La Palma, which houses the GTC telescope, one of the largest in the world. The Institute of Astrophysics of the
Canary Islands is also a world leader in its field.
