After 10 years at WANE, Ron realized a dream and went into business for himself, forming
his video production company. Pic Trics became the first video production house in Fort
Wayne. After a short time working out of his home, he moved his business to a studio on
Fourth Street, where he continued videotaping and creating until 1988. He then sold his
company to AHL Communications, where he remained as General Manager until 1995.
During his tenure in television production, Ron not only won Addy Awards for his
commercials, but also inaugurated innovative local TV programming that included sports,
entertainment, medical, training, government and community activities.
He always had time to teach, and share the business he loved. He sponsored an ongoing
internship program for college students majoring in media for many years. In 1995, he
joined Markey’s Audio Visual as an Account Executive and remained there until 1999.
Sadly, Ron was diagnosed with cancer in 1998. During his chemotherapy, he suffered two
serious heart attacks that resulted in double by-pass surgery. His many credits include
serving on the Cable T elevision Fund Access Board of Directors and Cable T elevision
Program Advisory Council. His involvement with the Ad Fed goes back to 1972. He served
on the Ad Fed Board of Directors in 1979, and several years on the Addy
Awards Committee.
Payment must accompany reservation,
to arrive no later that Friday, May 16, 2003
Ron was extremely creative and loved to meet new people and new challenges! He
enjoyed working with professionals who shared his passion for the business. It was never
about the money. His quote from a newspaper article sums it up, “When you do something you think is good – it’s all your
own. TV production is not necessarily a financially rewarding occupation, but it’s really a kick. It’s a job like any job and you
have to like it for there to by any type of fulfillment. I wouldn’t do anything else.” Ron passed away December 27, 2002.

AFFW Public Service Project:
AAF National Conference 2003 - June 4-7
Martin Luther King Montessori School - The Dream Lives On
SHAKING UP HE WORLD OF ADVERTIZING
T
The Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne has embarked on an ambitious
Public Service project for 2003 to benefit the Martin Luther King Montessori
School - a preschool program, predominately serving families in central Fort
Wayne. This ambitious project is planned to assist in MLK Montessori’s efforts
to raise $5,000,000 to build a new campus.
The Dream Lives On
MLK Montessori School benefits underprivledged pre-school aged children in
the Fort Wayne area. The school is currently located at 3 different locations
throughout Fort Wayne and is run on a shoestring budget and a loyal volunteer base as state and federal funding continues to decrease. Even
with incredible obstacles, the school has continued to grow and so has the demand for more students to attend. Several years ago, ground was
purchased with the intent on building a facility to bring all of the students together under one roof. On January 20th, 2003 a groundbreaking
ceremony was held at the schools’ new location on Tillman Road, across from Fairview Golf Course.
Ayaz Malik and his team at Marketing Impact have embarked on a two-tier
commitment to MLK with the creation of a public awareness campaign and a
capital fundraising campaign. The public awareness campaign will include print ads,
TV and radio public service commercials, outdoor boards and website. The capital
campaign will include a portfolio and the materials to present to potential financial
contributors. AdFed and MLK Montessori give heartfelt thanks to Ayaz and
Marketing Impact for graciously donating their time and talent.
