GEORGETOWN BID JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: EVENTS & MARKETING COORDINATOR Announcement Date: June 20, 2013 PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to assist in designing and executing event marketing and promotional programs in an effort to support and promote Georgetown and its business community. Marketing programs include a robust special events program as well as other marketing activities. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. EVENT MARKETING & MANAGEMENT Design and execute signature annual Georgetown BID-sponsored events, including the Georgetown French Market, Taste of Georgetown, Bike to Work Day, GBID Annual Meeting, annual Fashion event, Holiday promotion and any other brand events. Duties include: Work with Marketing Director to develop annual event marketing program for Georgetown. Assist in the design of new event concepts and the enhancement of existing event programs – including scope, target audience, logistics and budget; identify any relevant partners such as community organizations or sponsors. Generate new event ideas aligned with organizational goals for Georgetown. Create and manage individual event budgets within the total GBID marketing budget. Develop and implement event participation plan for Georgetown BID members/merchants – through communications, meetings and event committees (when needed). Build event sponsorship plan by identifying key partners whose participation and affiliation with event will add value, extend event outreach, and bring in event revenue. Manage all logistical aspects of events, including: set-up, breakdown, volunteer coordination, and contracted labor/vendors. Manage and negotiate event production vendor contracts. Assist in the development and execution of media placement for each event. Work with creative agency in the design and production of promotional materials and advertising campaign, e.g. posters, flyers, signage/banners, ads, etc. Manage dedicated event websites and/or social media channels. Work with PR/Communications team member to generate pre- and post-event buzz. Assist in securing needed city permits and other event logistics permissions. Post-event: develop event recaps by hosting meetings and doing post-event feedback surveys. Develop and maintain knowledge base of key Georgetown events produced by third parties and community organizations. Represent BID as partner to external events happening in and around Georgetown; work with third parties as needed. 2. MARKETING Email marketing: edit and produce the weekly Georgetown BIDness e-newsletter to promote Georgetown BID members/merchants. Website: as needed, work with rest of Marketing team to keep official Georgetown BID website up to date – www.georgetowndc.com Collateral: work with Marketing Director on development of marketing pieces for the BID, such as the annual report, PowerPoint presentations, invites, member guides, etc. Assist in managing and maintaining BID Images library – program, events, Georgetown. Assist in managing and maintaining the BID’s email database of members and consumers. 3. OTHER Maintain key relationships with BID members, vendors, and community partners Supervise seasonal marketing interns Various other projects as requested/assigned by Marketing Director REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Position reports to the Marketing Director. SCOPE Manages interns only Develops budgets and expends funds as approved for each marketing event/program Carries out directives and completes assignments with minimal supervision Prioritizes own work for maximum efficiency and productivity. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field 2-4 years of experience in related field required Proven ability to successfully develop and execute high quality, tasteful events – small to large scale Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; accountable Excellent negotiation, sales and communication skills (both oral and written) A strategic, creative and tactical thinker; ability to take an idea from concept to reality/execution Ability to cultivate relationships and work diplomatically with a diverse group of stakeholders High attention to detail; eye towards high quality event production and execution Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PPT) and other online applications for productivity and work efficiency Experience with graphic design programs, such as Illustrator, InDesign and/or Photoshop -- a plus SALARY Competitive and comes with an excellent benefits package.
