MESSAGE FROM THE AHEPA DISTRICT GOVERNOR
It has been an honor to
serve as your District Governor
this past year. My special thanks
go to my Lieutenant Governor
Peter Triantafyllos, and to my
entire District Lodge for a job well
done. I’ve enjoyed serving with all
of them this year for the good of
the order here in District 20. My
special thanks to Zachary T.
Prineas PDG who served as my
District Advisor. Also a big thank
you to our District Webmaster
Brother Dean Tripodes PDG for
all his hard work this past year.
On October 16th we had
the pleasure of welcoming the
Honorable Dimitrios
Caramitsos-Tziras, the new
Consul General of Greece. A reception was hosted by the District Hellenic Affairs Committee,
co-chaired by Brother Alex
Rigopoulos and Brother Jim
Dimitriou Past Supreme Presi-
dent.
I’ve enjoyed visiting almost all of the chapters
throughout the District and
getting a chance to meet the
brothers and sisters in Arizona, Southern California,
Nevada, and Utah.
My biggest challenge
this year resulted from an
attempt to form two new
chapters without the knowledge or endorsement of the
District Governor or the District Lodge. As a matter of fact
the District Lodge had no
knowledge of the new chapters until they appeared on
the year-end membership
report from headquarters.
Article 7 Section A of the Order of AHEPA By-laws specifically states, “The Petitions
should be addressed to the
Supreme Lodge after being
endorsed by the Governor of the
District in which the chapter is to
be established.” Section F of the
same article states, “No new
chapter shall be established in
any city or town where there is
already a chapter or chapters of
AHEPA unless there is a petition
by at least 35 or men who are not
or never have been members of
any other chapter, and the District
Lodge consents to the establishment of such additional chapters.”
Hesperia Chapter 152 is a
long established chapter and one
of the strongest in our District. It
appears that the purported new
chapters had only 9 or 10 members in each, and it is unknown
whether they have been members
of any other chapter. This is far
from the 35 or more required by
Article 7 Section F mentioned
earlier. District Lodge endorsement was never asked for nor was
MESSAGE FROM THE DAUGHTERS DISTRICT GOVERNOR
It has been a privilege and a
pleasure to serve District 20 as your
Governor this year.
It was a whirlwind experience
and as I approach the end of my
term it still is exciting.
Our first conference with the
Sisters from Australia is being held
in Hawaii. The experience is sure to
be a delight as was the Supreme
Convention in Boston where I felt as
if I were walking through the history
books. It was beautiful. Being in
Washington, D.C. for the Governor’s
Conference was another touch of
history with a memorable tour
through our Capitol. It was wonderful attending the Salute to Women
at the Embassy of Greece and meeting the Greek Ambassador and his
wife. The Grand Lodge really knows
how to entertain.
In November, the Western
Regional Conference in Las Vegas,
was a most informative weekend with Gus James, AHEPA
Supreme President and Mary
Filou our Grand President.
Our Sisters have been
hospitable and have extended many courtesies to
me and my Lodge on our
visitations, in Las Vegas,
California, Salt Lake and
Arizona. I would like to take
this opportunity to express
my appreciation to all of you
for making time to accommodate us on the weekends we
requested. We have had a
most enjoyable time visiting
with all of you. Thank you
again.
This year, our District
hosted the Sisterhood Conference in Tempe, Az.
A representative from
The Guide Dogs of America,
our District Project, was able to
attend with her lovely dog,
April. I know we made an impact on the other Districts in
attendance # 21, and #22
when we also presented the
teachers from the Kyrene
school district from Tempe, AZ,
who made a presentation of
their video, featuring the children at Agios Nektario Institution in Greece. They had just
completed their second year of
travel to this small town of Sidirokastro, to help the special
needs children at the institution and to instruct the caregivers in some special-ed techniques. According to those
attending from Spokane, Washington, Portland, Oregon and
San Francisco, Santa Barbara,
Long Beach, CA and Tucson,
AZ, it was the best conference
it ever obtained!!!
I brought this to the attention of the Supreme Counselor
who agreed with me, and ruled
these two chapters illegal. The
Supreme Lodge over-ruled him,
with certain conditions having
to be met. A strong letter cam-
(continued on page 10)
that they have attended. Of
course, it might have been the
added trip to dinner and a show
at the Casino.
This year, Alkandre celebrated their 70th anniversary.
Congratulations sisters and many,
many more. The Maids of Athena

METROPOLITAN GERASIMOS TO BE HONORED WITH PERICLEAN AWARD
Each year the District Governor of our four state District has the
honor of recognizing one member of the Greek-American
Community. Our guidelines state that this award should be for
someone of great character, who is also an exceptional individual
and supporter of our community, our churches, and our GreekAmerican families.
——Metropolitan Gerasimos will be honored at our District Convention
Grand Banquet on Friday, June 23, 2006 with the Periclean Award.
Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco was
born in Kalamata, Greece to
Nicholas and Anastasia
Michaleas. Upon successful
completion of his elementary and
secondary school education in
Greece, he immigrated to the
United States. In 1970, he enrolled at Hellenic College in
Brookline, Massachusetts, where
he received his B.A. with High
Honors in 1973. That same year,
he was admitted to Holy Cross
School of Theology, where he
completed his M.Div. Degree in
1976 with High Honors.
In 1977 he joined the administration of Hellenic College/
Holy Cross, serving as Registrar
until 1979. During his tenure in
this post, he organized and updated the Registrar's Office, creating the Office of Admissions and
Records for the school.
He was ordained to the
diaconate in 1979 and was called
to serve as Archdeacon to His
Eminence Archbishop Iakovos,
a position he held until 1996.
Concurrently, he was appointed
Dean of Students at Hellenic
College/Holy Cross from 1980
until 1999. As Dean, he created
the "Orthodox Actionline," the
first Archdiocesan telephone
ministry directed towards those
who do not have substantive ties
to the Church. Eventually, this
ministry became an official part
of the Office of Field Education at
Holy Cross.
Also during his tenure as
Dean of Students at Hellenic
College/Holy Cross, he became
centrally involved in the success
of various programs benefiting
future priests of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and
their families. Specifically, he
organized and monitored programs that evaluate and assist
individuals at Hellenic College/
Holy Cross with development in
both their emotional and spiritual
growth. These programs have
been modified to suit the needs
of the institution's current student population.
In 1984 he enrolled in the
Master's Degree Program in
Counseling and School Psychology at Boston College. After receiving his degree in 1986, he
entered the doctoral program. He
received his Doctorate in Counseling and School Psychology in
1993. His doctoral dissertation is
titled, "Intellectual Deficiencies in a
Substance Abuse Population."
While maintaining his position as Archdeacon and Dean of
Students, he was appointed a
member of the staff of the Outpatient Clinic of the V.A. Medical Center in Boston, a post he held until
1996.
In 1998, he became Director
of Admissions and Records at Hellenic College/Holy Cross. In 2000,
he became Administrative Assistant to the Rev. Nicholas Triantafilou, President of Hellenic College/Holy Cross, a post he held
until he was elected Bishop of
Krateia by the Holy and Sacred
Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in December of 2001. He
was appointed by His Eminence
Archbishop Demetrios as Chief
Secretary of the Holy Eparchial
Synod of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. As Chief Secretary, he assisted the Synod in the
promulgation and realization of its
decisions.
In the area of academic
achievements, he taught courses in
Psychology at Hellenic College, as
well as courses on Teleturgics at
Holy Cross. Since 1985, he has
been Senior Lecturer in the
field of Personality and Psychology at Northeastern University,
University College. The University Press of America published
his dissertation in 1994. He is
the author of a number of articles published in periodicals in
the area of psychology, and is a
member of the APA (American
Psychological Association) and
the ACA (American Counseling
Association).
On February 22, 2005,
the Holy and Sacred Synod of
the Ecumenical Patriarchate
selected him to be the new
Metropolitan of San Francisco.
On April 2, 2005, His Eminence
Archbishop Demetrios of America presided over the Enthronement Ceremony at the Ascension Cathedral, Oakland. Metropolitan Gerasimos celebrated
his first Divine Liturgy the following day, April 3, 2005, at
the Annunciation Cathedral,
San Francisco.
We are proud to honor
Metropolitan Gerasimos as
the recipient of the Periclean Award for 2006.

AHEPA—LONG BEACH #342
The Long Beach AHEPA Chapter
hosted their annual Assumption
Easter picnic in Long Beach. The
event chairman was AHEPA chapter
member James Eleopoulos, who
also did a great job for the midnight
resurrection dinner, a 2 am meal for
about 240, and on the Sunday picnic
preparing lambs and many other food
items.
Our Long Beach chapter holds our
regular monthly meetings both at the
Assumption church and at local restaurants owned by our members and the
community.
We have elected delegates to District
and National Conventions, and we are
looking forward to sending delegates
to both conventions. Of course, we will
support the Burbank District Convention Grand Banquet and Glendi.
On Saturday, June 3rd, we will host a
District Lodge visitation and
luncheon at Ecco's Pizza, 2123
Bellflower Blvd., Long Beach, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of our Long Beach Chapter #342.
We are inviting the neighboring chapters of San Pedro, Redondo Beach and
Anaheim. Our District Governor
George Makris will be attending, and
we hope that other chapters will be
represented as well.

DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE MINOS #159
Daughters of Penelope, Minos
Chapter #159 of Long Beach just completed a successful sale of See's Easter
Candy. This yearly sale is always a
good money maker. Minos Chapter
earmarks the profit for our local, District, and National charities and obligations, along with a contribution to the
Blessed Virgin Mary Assumption Greek
Orthodox Church. Thanks to all of you
who participated in this sale. Several of
our members are now looking forward
to attending the AHEPA District Convention in June at the Hilton Hotel in Burbank. Minos Chapter recently lost two
of its members, Helen Robertson,
PDG, and Anne Roby, a charter member of Minos. May their memory be
eternal.

President - Minos #159.

DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE—AEGINA #340
The Sisterhood Conference at
the Fiesta Inn in Tempe, AZ for
Districts 20, 21, and 22 on April
1 turned out to be an unqualified success. It is a good way for
Sisters from other Districts to
get together to share information and have a good time. Our
membership hosted an informal
reception on Friday night, and
provided transportation for the
out of town guests to the Crab
Shack for a delicious Lenten
meal. A side trip to the local
casino on Saturday after the
conference was also enjoyed by
all.
Our chapter has been
working hard to ensure the success of St. Katherine's annual
Festival. This year, for the first
time, the venue was changed to
Tempe Town Lake. It was a difficult transition for all of us, but
we managed to pull it off. The
Import Booth was chaired by
President Mary Bowen, so it
was no surprise that the booth
was manned by Sisters of our
chapter. We did a thriving busi-
ness. Several Sisters worked
in the Food Tent with District
Governor Elaine Perparos.
Everyone pitched in somewhere.
We had a great turnout for the District Conference in Tucson in January.
Since it was so close, there
was an opportunity for Sisters to come for the day
instead of the weekend.
We helped our Brother
AHEPANS with the annual
March 25 celebration, held
at St. Katherine's Community Center on March 25 for a change. This
is always a well attended and inspiring evening.
We are also working on our
Anniversary Dinner to be held on
June 3 at the Phoenix Airport Hilton
where we will honor our 25, 40,
and 45 year members. Tickets are
$50 and are available from Mary
Bowen, President. It's going to be a
really elegant affair. Hope to see
everyone at the Convention in Burbank this year.
— Georgia Souris, PDG
AHEPA—SANTA BARBARA #243
On March 10, 2006 PDG
Gus Frangos on behalf of our
Chapter introduced the new Los
Angeles Consul General, Dimitris
Caramitsos-Tziras to our
Santa Barbara County Supervisors, City Council members, and
various members of departments
at the University of California,
Santa Barbara. Accompanying
him were members of our chap-
ter. We discussed an idea put forth
by Chris Compogiannis for a Sister-City relationship with a city in
Greece which is similar to Santa
Barbara; which was enthusiastically
received by the Mayor and the Consul General. The Consul General is
contacting appropriate cities in
Greece and will work with us to
make a match.
We hosted the Greek Inde-
pendence Day Celebration at Saint Barbara on
Sunday March 26, 2006.
Because it reflects
our Greek spirit during
World War Two, it has a
recent timeliness which
many are not aware of.
An excerpt from the program:
I speak of the Hellenic idea of values that
are greater than the self.
Because of these higher
values the Greek people
and therefore Greece
itself have served as an
inspirational icon for the
world.
These values have
been described as virtue,
valor, heroism, selfsacrifice, and love of
freedom. These descriptive terms help to comprehend the meaning of
the sacrifice at Ther-

mopylae, the holocaust of Missolonghi, the dance on the rock
of Zalongho, and many others.
These true stories remind us of
what Greece through its people
has given the world and of our
heritage and roots. These historical stories are repeated
many times throughout history
and the chronicles of the War
of Independence kept by Greek
historians.
We are also assisting the
University Arts and Letters Department in the promotion of
the Greek film "Hostage" which
was shown on May 15, 2006 at
7:30 pm in Campbell hall. The
film maker Constantine
Giannaris was present. This
is co-sponsored with the
James and Sarah Argyropoulos Endowment in Hellenic Studies at UCSB, in
association with the Los Angeles office of the Consul General
of Greece. For tickets and info,

AHEPA—ARROWHEAD #302 / DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE - AMPHITRITE #151
Arrowhead Chapter #302 in San Bernardino, California is proud to announce that on
Thursday, March 9, 2006, we took title to the site
where our Senior Housing project will be built.
This was made possible by the City of San Bernardino Redevelopment Agency making us an interest free loan for the purchase price of $840,000,
which will be paid back once HUD funds are received. Our final plans were recently submitted to
the City Planning Department for approval and
submitted to the general contractor for bidding.
We are hopeful that HUD’s final approval will
come by mid-June, with construction starting 30days thereafter.
We are also proud of our member John
Margaritis who is the women’s basketball coach
at the University of Riverside (UCR). His team was
selected to play in the NCAA Women’s Tournament, and though they lost in the first round to
the number one ranked and top seeded University of North Carolina, John’s team played impressively for the young team that they are (2 sophomores and 5 freshmen).
Members of Arrowhead #302 and
Amphitrite #151 at their Christmas party on December 8, 2005.
The event also included a visitation by District Lt. Governor Peter

Secretary, Arrowhead Chapter #302
tees member Steven Tripodes.
DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE—CHARAI #79
The melting of the winter
snow means the arrival of summer
to Salt Lake City and signals the
end of the business year for Charai
79. “I’m very happy at what the
Daughters of Penelope have accomplished this year,” said president Joanne Saltas. “It was
really nice to have a guest speaker
at our meetings,” added vicepresident Sophia Mannos.
Along with having inspirational, motivational and educational speakers at the monthly
meetings, the Salt Lake City chapter initiated and reinstated a number of members. A very successful
Easter Bread sale chaired by Antoinette Sotiriou was held on
Palm Sunday.
The April meeting was
the official District Lodge
Officers visitation. District
Governor Elaine Perparos,
Lt. Governor Georgia Gastouniotis, District Secretary
Maggie Thomas, District
MOA Advisor Sissi Sakellariou and District Advisor
Georgia Souris all attended
a luncheon meeting. There
was also time for shopping,
eating and visiting the newly
restored Holy Trinity Cathedral. “I really enjoyed listening to what the District Governor and the other officers
had to say,” said priestess
Anastasia Gogo. “These
ladies were great,” she added.
PDG & PGG Tina Katis offered
greetings and thanks to the
District Officers for coming to
Salt Lake City.
Charai 79 will again send
delegates to both the District
and National Conventions.
Hopefully, some members who
haven’t attended a convention
will be among those able to
attend this year. “The conventions are an excellent opportunity to really see the organizational aspects of the club and
also a great way to meet terrific
people,” explained PDG Margo
Sotiriou.
Shelley Anderson has
once again offered her home
for the annual Charai summer
barbeque. “Everyone helps
and it’s a good time to have a
fun, casual social event. We
invite all members and their
families and just have lots of
delicious food,” Shelley
laughed.
Charai 79 always makes
contributions to local, district
and national charities and obligations. The chapter also recognizes that the innate gifts of
the members are limitless and
play a big part in another successful year for the chapter.

AHEPA—ROSE BOWL #373 / DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE—ADRASTEIA #233
Sunday, February 19,
2006 was the date of our
District Lodge Visitation, and
we were honored to be visited by District Governor
George Makris and his
Lodge. We enjoyed a most
meaningful and productive
visitation, followed by a great
lunch at Twohey’s restaurant.
AHEPA DAY AT THE
RACES was held on Saturday,
March 25, 2006 at Santa
Anita Race Track in Arcadia,
CA. It was a fine day in what
is arguably the most beautiful
race track in the country.
Some 23 enthusiastic
Ahepans, Daughters and
friends had a great time, and
did their best to beat the
track, on our 19th anniversary of this event! Unofficially, the best handicappers
were brother Anthony
Horaites PDG and George
Horaites. Remember us for
next year, as we ordinarily
have this event on the fourth
Saturday of March, so we
hope you join us on Saturday,
March 24, 2007. Steven
Tripodes is our chairman of
the event.
Sunday, April 16, 2006
was the occasion of the Palm
Sunday Lenten Luncheon
sponsored by our Ahepa Fam-
ily. A complete gourmet menu
featuring halibut almondine
was prepared by Executive Chef
and PDG Anthony Horaites and
his great crew! Everyone was
raving about this lunch, where
we served 164 parishoners. We
raised $1000 which was donated to St. Anthony Greek
Orthodox Church building fund.
Sunday, May 21, 2006
was AHEPA DAY, which we commemorated by having the
names of our departed Ahepa
Family members memorialized
in St. Anthony Greek Orthodox
Church, and providing the koliva. We then hosted the coffee
hour, augmented by cheese,
olives, kouloures, and a variety
of fruit.
Brother Peter Kaplanis
has spoken at several meetings. The latest topic was
“Homer: Mankind’s Greatest

AHEPA — TRI CITY #454
The AHEPA 454 Educational/Cultural
Foundation held its second fundraiser on Saturday, January 21 at St. Katherine Community
Center in Chandler, Arizona. The guest
speaker for the event was the ambassador of
Cyprus to the United States, the Hon. Euripides Evriviades. The ambassador spoke
about the relations between Cyprus and the
U.S., with an emphasis on the role that the
Greek American community can play in helping foster stronger relations. The ambassador
took advantage of his visit to Arizona to meet
with Congressman Jim Kolbe in the latter’s
office and discuss the Cyprus issue with him.
The fundraiser itself was successful. The
guests enjoyed a nice dinner donated by
Alexi’s Grill and danced to the sounds of The
Grecian Express. There was also a silent auction.

tears and cheers. The District Convention provides the
opportunity for catching up
on the latest happenings and
news of the PDG’s.
This year, instead of
having a breakfast meeting,
the Past District Governors
will have a luncheon meeting. It
will be held on Friday of the convention. More details will be
available at the time of registration.
Election of President and
Secretary/Treasurer will take
place.

HESPERIA CHAPTER #152
ALKANDRE CHAPTER #43
VOLUME 43, NUMBER 2, MAY 2006
CHAPTER PER CAPITA TAX BILLING
The Chapter Per Capita Tax
billing for 2006 was mailed out during
the first week of May to all chapter
secretaries. Each billing statement
showed the amount of unpaid Per
Capita Tax for the years 2003 to 2006.
One aspect and life blood of the organization is to maintain a sound treasury
so that we can achieve the objectives
of Ahepa and the District. In order to
do so, all mandated District Per Capita
remittances for each Chapter must be
paid when due. At the 2004 District
Convention in Pasadena, CA, new legislation was passed on the District Per
Capita Tax. The Per Capita Tax legisla-
tion is based on the following:
1.
The calculation of membership
is based on Ahepa National Headquarters chapter membership for the prior
year end dated 12/31/XX. The membership will include all National active
members including life members.
2.
The District Per Capita Tax is
due on January 1st of the year.
Here is an example of how the
District 20 Per Capita Tax for 2006 is
calculated: Ahepa National Headquarters’ database of active members as of
December 31, 2005 shows 100 members (this includes 5 Life members).
The District Per Capita Tax for 2006 is
Page 9
$5 per member. The amount due
from the Chapter will be: 100 members times $5.00 = $500. The
check is due to the District on January 1st 2006. The check will be
made payable to: Order of Ahepa
District 20.
I have enclosed a summary
showing the status of Per Capita
Tax for the District as of May 1,
2006. For those chapters that are
delinquent, please make payment
prior to June 15th. I will issue a
report at the convention based on
all checks received to that date.
At the District Conference in
January, we proposed a change in
legislation in order to collect all Per
Capita Taxes. The proposed legislation will state that delegates to the
convention will have a vote, provided that the delegate’s chapter
has fully paid all Chapter Per Capita
Tax for the current and all prior
years. The cut-off determination
date will be 5/15/XX. This means
the Treasurer must receive all monies by May 15. The Treasurer will
then advise the District on the
status of Per Capita and will in turn
advise the chapter of the status.
Fraternally,
Paul G. Poulos
District Treasurer

MESSAGE FROM THE AHEPA DISTRICT GOVERNOR
(continued from page 2)
paign then ensued against forming these
vest pocket chapters. Although the circumstances surrounding the attempted
formation of these chapters are not yet
completely known, it should be noted
that "James G. Selimos, PDG & SG" is
an endorser on all of the Membership
Applications for the members of both
chapters, twenty in all, and that 4920
Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA
91601, is the address listed for all of the
chapter officers for both of the chapters
and as the place of the first meeting of
the North Hollywood Chapter. (It is also
the address of James G. Selimos, as set
forth on the national ahepa.org website).
In addition, both Petitions For a Chapter
Charter have a Certification to the Supreme Lodge executed by “James G.
Selimos, Supreme Governor Dist. 20",
which states “I hereby certify to the correctness of the above and recommend
the issuance of a charter, as approved by
the District Lodge of District No. 20 at a
meeting held on 12-2-05." As I stated
earlier, there was no meeting of the District Lodge and no member of the District
Lodge had any knowledge of the attempts to form these chapters until, at
the District Conference, we saw the membership report from headquarters.
The Supreme Counselor’s further
inquiry revealed that the Membership
Applications were “fatally defective”, and
that the suggestion that the new Chapters were being formed (in North Holly-
wood and Studio City) for members’
convenience is “disingenuous at best”.
The Supreme Counselor concluded,
“Therefore, the grant of Charters to the
subject Chapters is DENIED”.
The Executive Director subsequently
advised the Supreme Lodge and Board
of Trustees “I believe that this issue is
now closed.”
Brothers, I take this action as a
personal insult to me, my District Lodge
and the District that I represent. Attempts to form vest pocket chapters in
our District nearly destroyed District 20
several years ago. I will strongly endorse any legitimate attempt to increase the membership of this great
Order. I will, however, strongly fight any
attempt to circumvent the By-laws and
Constitution of the Order of AHEPA for
political considerations.
On a more positive note, the District Lodge will be conducting our annual raffle. The winning tickets will be
drawn at the Glendi during our District
Convention on Saturday June 24th at
the St Nicholas Community Center.
Please support your District Lodge as
much as possible. This will provide the
funds we need to carry on our activities.
Further information will be found in the
convention insert in this issue.
I hope to see everyone at the
District Convention in Burbank, California and soon thereafter. I look forward
to seeing many of you at this year’s
Supreme Convention in Hollywood, Florida.
The Convention will be held July 24-30, 2006
at the Diplomat Hotel-Spa.

are also celebrating their 75th
year, and will present a scrapbook of their memories at the
Supreme Convention in Hollywood, Florida.
Although we have had
some wonderful times this
year, we have also been sad-
dened by the loss of some
devoted sisters. The National
Executive Director for over
25 years, Helen G.
Pappas, and our own District
20 PDG and Past Grand
Officer, Penny Boukidis,
and PDG Helen Robertson
have all left us. We will miss
them all.
We look forward to the

carry on the ideals, projects
and objectives of our sister-

you experience all the excitement
that I have this past year.

with the visitation from our Governor George Makris and Lt.
Governor Peter Triantafyllos.
We had a very rewarding meeting, sharing information about
the goals of the District and of
the progress of the Ahepa Housing in Salt Lake City.
District Governor George
Makris shared the importance
of starting the scholarship committee now, Dr. Nikos Linardakis volunteered to be the
chairman. Another of my goals
to accomplish as a president is
completed thanks to this visitation of our governors.

AHEPA—TUCSON #275
Arizona Chapter #275 has
been busy and productive during the last several months.
Since last reporting to the El
Camino Real, the Chapter and
our members donated over
$3,000 to the St Demetrios
Greek School and hosted a very
successful Christmas party for
the entire Hellenic community in
Tucson. Then we picked up the
pace by hosting the 2006 MidWinter District 20 Conference.
District Governor George Makris and Chapter President
Victor Ruboyianes co-chaired
the event, which featured a
terrific motivational speaker
talking about non-profit organizations, and as always we had
some lively business sessions. Some very interesting issues were raised that
will be followed up on at the
District Convention in June.
Since the Conference, we
have initiated several new
members as we continue to
grow. During March we
enjoyed a bowling night,
during which we had a great
time and for the most part
demonstrated how not to
bowl. In May we will be
attending a Tucson Sidewinders AAA baseball game.
Our fiscal year ends in June
with the election of new
chapter officers.
