BERRY, Russell Jay
January 19, 1926 - January 8, 2011
Passed away quietly on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Post Inn Village in
Oakville after a short illness in his 84th year. Loving husband, father and
grandfather, Russ was personable, cheer y and optimistic. He was born and
raised in Toronto and was a jack of all trades with a talent for sales. Russ trained
as a watchmaker and had polio from a very early age, but that never held him
down. He worked for a number of firms during his career and is best
remembered as the proprietor of a family-run business, The Toy Chest in
downtown Oakville which he ran for ten years with his wife Marion who
predeceased him in 2005. He took an active interest and participation in the
community through the White Oaks Choral Society, the Boy Scouts, taught ESL
and always stayed on top of current events and the news of the day. Lovingly
remembered by his daughter Colleen and sons Bruce and his wife Marilyn, and
Robert and his wife Tanit. Cherished by his grandchildren Charlotte, Noel, Liam,
Graeme and his nephews and nieces. He maintained close contact with a
number of lifelong friends including the Mougenot's, the Simpsons, the
Dunkerley's, the Ash's and the Parsons. All of the staff and friends he met at the
Post Inn Village truly made his last five years pleasant and joyful. A memorial
gathering will be held on Saturday, January 15 from 2 to 4 pm at the Oakview
