Honor Flight
In conjunction with our Veterans Day celebration, Rapid Run is once again
raising money to send our nation’s heroes to Washington, D.C.
Students have an opportunity to donate during lunch until Thursday,
November 6. Students who donate a minimum of $2 can wear a hat to
school on Friday, November 6. Help us reach our goal of $1000!
PTA Reflections Program
The theme for this year’s PTA Reflections competition is “Let Your Imagination Fly.” Students are invited to reflect
on the theme and create a work of art in one of the following categories: Literature, Visual Art, Photography,
Musical Composition, Dance Choreography, or Video Production. Specific guidelines for each category are
available on the display in the Media Center or online at www.ohiopta.org/PROGRAMS.aspx.
Entries are due to the school office no later than November 20, 2015. Information sheets are available in the
Media Center. Any questions about the contest should be sent to Brandie Ashcraft

As we approach the holiday seasons and put
a little more emphasis on being Thankful and
looking for opportunities to Give to Others…
Please consider nearby places that might not be obvious. One example would be the Health Room at your
school. Why not contact Mrs. Mary Erwin ([email protected]) to see if you can do anything to help out.
Hopefully you don’t need the nurses’ services often. But when you do, it’s so nice to know that they are there
for your kids!!

Q What qualifications do you possess

Q What is your vision for the Oak Hills

A I see a district that seeks to enrich

needs at whatever that level might be,
and to assist each student to reach
their fullest potential.

PTAs. I have coached for Bridgetown
Baseball for eight years and one
year with Oak Hills Youth Athletics. I
volunteer with the Oak Hills Band, the
Rapid Run Bands, Orchestras, and
Choirs, and the PTA Musicals. As a
result, I have a lot of interaction with all
our great kids and our great teachers
and I see firsthand their challenges,
successes, and struggles. I am ready to
be a bigger part of the process to help
our district be even more successful.
Q What is your vision for the Oak Hills
School District in the coming years.
A I want all the children in our district
to have access to the highest quality
education we can provide while
stretching our limited funding as far
as we can. I want to continue to avoid
additional levies and renewals but raise
expectations. I want to reduce how
much time we spend testing so the kids
can spend more time learning. I do not
want to just pass the benchmark by a
narrow margin, I want each kid to do
the best they can and have many more
kids achieve at higher levels.
