All reservations need to be made before mailing in your conference form as you will need your confirmation number to receive the $50.00 deduction on your registration form. CONFIRMATION NUMBER: ________________________________________ Spacious two room suites are $129.00 plus taxes/single occupancy per night which includes the fully cooked to order breakfast. Each additional guest in the suite is $10.00 per night which pays for their breakfast. The hotel has one restaurant, the Athletic Club Bar and Grill, which serves the cooked to order breakfast each morning. Lunch and dinner are also available in the restaurant. There are many restaurants within a short drive from the hotel. A list and map will be furnished at registration. Guest services include: free parking, indoor pool, fitness facility, whirlpool and sauna. All suites have a refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave, hairdryer, ironing board and iron. There is a nightly Manager’s Reception. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THERE BE ANY SALE OF ITEMS OUT OF PERSONAL ROOMS. DOING SO WILL VIOLATE OUR CONTRACT WITH THE HOTEL. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ONE DAY ONLY REGISTRATION – In 2012 the State Board voted to extend the ONE DAY registration to fce members STATEWIDE. The ONE DAY ONLY fee is $25.00. SPECIAL PROJECT – Tennessee State Veteran’s Home – Murfreesboro, TN. This home is for both male and female veteran’s and provides quality care and life for our veterans. They rehabilitate veterans to the maximum attainable level of independent functioning by utilizing all necessary governmental and community services and therapies and provide a comfortable, safe, sanitary environment conducive to personal happiness. They make available to residents, social and cultural activities of personal interest designed to foster feelings of dignity and self‐respect. A representative from the veteran’s home will be at our opening session to briefly speak to us and receive our donations. Items that are needed include: hygiene products for both male and female residents, socks, throws, stationery, stamps, pens, puzzle books (especially large print) and jigsaw puzzles. Monetary donations are also acceptable. BREAKFAST is a fully cooked to order meal that is included in your room fee. LANYARDS – Please bring your TAFCE lanyard from a previous conference for your name badge. New name badges will be provided. Some generic lanyards will be made available if you do not have one. FLAGS – All county council presidents or their representatives are to bring their county flags for the opening session Parade of flags. Be in the opening session foyer area at 6:00 p.m. for instructions and lineup. “A Cup of Friendship – Gift Shop” – The gift shop is sponsored by Central Region and will have an array of handmade items for purchase. Do your Christmas shopping with us! You may just find that unique item that you have been looking for. It will be located in the Azalea Jr. Ballroom. TAFCE EXECUTIVE ALUMNI SILENT AUCTION – Executive alumni members donate items for the auction. The money from the sale pays for the speaker on Tuesday at the conference. Check throughout the conference for bidding times. The auction is located on the 2nd floor in the Franklin Suite. FIRST TIMERS – This meeting on Monday afternoon is for those who are attending their very first TAFCE conference. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the conference and meet new friends. CONFERENCE TEE SHIRTS – Tee shirts will be available for ordering with the logo on the front left. See the order form on page 12, complete and send it in with your registration. GAME NIGHT – Recipes for Fun Game Night will be after the opening session on Monday. Tai Chi and Tea – Taught by Belinda Letto Belinda Letto FCS Agent in Coffee County will be helping us to relax and rejuvenate. Follow Belinda through a series of movements that will relax tense muscles, loosen stiff joints, increase blood flow, reduce stress, and improve overall mood and mental focus. No special equipment or clothing required just comfortable shoes. Movements can be done seated or standing. You will also learn about the Asian art of making tea. 2. “Being Dead is no Excuse (Funeral planning ahead in a funny humorous way)” – Taught by Theresa Allen Theresa Allen, FCS Agent in Sumner County based this program on the book “Being Dead is No Excuse – The Official Southern Ladies Guide to Hosting the Perfect Funeral” There will be some handouts and recipes for you to share. 3. Curves, Calcium and Calories: Yogurt Cheese Please! – Taught by Michelle Parrott Michelle Parrott, FCS Agent in Putnam County will be using yogurt cheese to lower calories in your favorite foods. 4. Be the Hostess with the Most‐ess – Taught by Carla Bush and Katherine “Kitty” Bush Carla Bush, FCS Agent in Cannon County and Kitty Bush fce member of both Rutherford and Cannon County will be discussing social graces for the new millennium, including hints and tips on being a wonderful host; especially hosting overnight guests in your home, as well as being a worthy guest. This will be a fun, light‐hearted session that will include discussion. 5. Functional Fitness – Taught by Janie Pedigo Janie Pedigo, FCS Agent in Smith County will be helping us get fit or stay fit by using chair exercises and hand weights. Easy to do and functional to!!! FCL classes being taught: Cost $2.00 for each class 6. “Are Bullies For Real” – Taught by Donna Elliott and Emily Gordon from Marshall Co. Learn about the different kinds and different ways to combat bullying. This is a NAFCE approved curriculum and those attending will receive a certificate and a Hearth Fire series booklet. 7. “How Do We Talk About Autism” – The teacher is unknown at this time Discussion of what it is and how to handle it. Learn how to talk to an autistic child. It was
closed in 2007 and underwent an 8 million dollar renovation by the Franklin Heritage
Foundation and Williamson County. On Sunday evenings the theater shows classic movies such
as “Some Like It Hot” and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” The actual movie that will be shown
will not be known until closer to November. We will be seated all together in the balcony that
has larger and very cushy seats. There is an elevator available to the balcony. Your price
includes the movie, popcorn and a soda. Eastern Region bus riders do not have to pay the extra
$5.00. Everyone else that wants to ride the bus must pay the extra. We will leave the hotel
around 6:00 p.m. with the movie being shown at 7:00 p.m.
TOUR #2 Monday – November 11, 2013 Price $30.00 per Person Schakolad Chocolate Factory Schakolad Chocolate Factory (pronounced shaq-oh-LAD) is one of the truly custom retail
chocolate boutiques in the business. Their chocolates are "Made Fresh on Premises" using a
tried and true three-generation European style family recipe that calls for the highest quality
ingredients and attention to design detail. Participants will leave the hotel around 9:30 a.m. by
trolley and will be treated to a 2 hour tour of this small but prestige factory; and will have an
opportunity to have a chocolate party and make your own chocolate creations.
TOUR #3 Monday – November 11, 2013 Lotz House and Loveless Café and shops Price $10.00 + $5.00 for bus ride Eastern Region bus riders do not have to pay extra $5.00 to ride bus Lunch at Loveless Café is on your own Participants will leave hotel around 9:30 a.m. and have a private tour of the historic Lotz House.
After the tour, the bus will take you to the Famous Loveless Café where you will order off the
menu and pay for your own lunch. There are a number of interesting shops on the grounds
around the Loveless Café and you will have an opportunity to shop. The bus will return to the
hotel in time for anyone who is participating in the Fashion Review judging. Eastern Region bus
riders do not have to pay the extra $5.00.
