Rocker, Scott and Clifton elected

Approximately 44.44 percent
of the City of Millen’s registered voters went to the polls
on Tuesday, Nov. 8, to elect a
Mayor and two city council
members.
Incumbent Mayor King
Rocker was successful in his bid
for re-election defeating Bobby
Anthony by a vote of 525 to
289.
In the city council, District #2
race, newcomer Robin Scott
was the winning candidate with
175 votes. Incumbent Lee Ward
Williams polled 25 votes; Edna
E. Golff, 33; and Hamp Scott,
14.
Incumbent City Councilman
Darrel Clifton, District #1, was
unopposed in his bid for reelection and received 419 votes.
Eight hundred twenty-four
votes were cast in the election.
There are 1,854 registered voters in the city.

Two hundred coats and blankets were donated to the Jenkins
County Family Enrichment Center by a group of employees working for Shaw Industries at the Plant Vogtle site. All
items were separated and dispersed to each of the local schools
