QUILT SHOW ~ After 7 Sew’N Sews
on Sunday, April 13, 10 am to 4 pm
Admission: $5, (men admitted free)
April 7, 2014
Dear quilting friends,
Hope all of you are looking forward to some spring weather and looking forward to taking
some classes at the store. We have put together some classes that are sure to appeal to all
of you.
Yes, we are having a Quilt Show at our Store. The Vernon based Quilt Guild, the “After 7
Sew’N Sews, are going to “wow” you with all of their talents. They are a small group of 40
woman that are going to display their quilts in the store. They will feature “Red and White”
quilts along with embroidered and traditional quilts. The display of quilts will be in the store
and in the hallways of the mall, so there will be a lot of quilts. This is a very active group in
the community and it’s well worth the effort to come out and see what they are all about, and
support them. The admission is 5 dollars, men admitted free!! They will have finished items
on their sale table also. So grab a friend and come and enjoy a cup of coffee, and see the
beautiful quilts.
Kathy Kinsella is coming to do a fibre art’s journal as a class. We sure are excited to see this
form of art spilling into quilting. She will unleash all of your creativity and you will end up
with a wonderful sampling of beauty to add to your quilts or projects. More details in the
class schedule.
Marven Ecker, is coming to the Store to do another class in the schedule. He is a very
accomplish quilter with so many beautiful quilts under his belt. He has been quilting for over
17 years, and has been entering quilts in fall fairs and winning ribbons for years, and has had
his quilts accepted in juried quilt shows! See class schedule for details.
We have had great success with our in-store retreats!!! Oh what fun, spending time with old
friends, meeting new friends, laughing, eating, and of course uninterrupted sewing time. We
had such a great response so of course we have 1 more set of dates in this next schedule.
Our classroom is the perfect set up for such an event, for those of you that haven’t attended
a retreat you’re in for some fun. All the meals are planned; you simply sew for the duration,
while we look after the details. Bring new projects, unfinished projects that you might need
some help with and have some uninterrupted time sewing. We also have a gal coming in to do
massage, pedicures, manicures, which comes with an extra cost, but well worth it! Don’t
delay, limited room for this one!
See you on Open House Sale Days ~ Class Samples Viewing,
Thursday, Friday & Saturday, April 10, 11 & 12.. See you there!!
Bye for now,
Klia Cawston

NOVA
Instructor: Marven Ecker
This eye catching project is based on an
article by Liz Schwartz and Stephen
Seifert, that caught Marven attention. It
uses only straight lines to give the illusion
of curves. The paper piecing is relatively
easy, using 20 of each of two pattern
pieces. The finished piece is 24”x 30”
using eight colors plus black. Those who
wish to can easily increase this to a
finished piece 54” x 66”, let’s see how
ambitious you are. Marven is a very
accomplished quilter and teacher and has
many skills that he will share with you in
this class.
4 & 6 hr session
Class fee: $ 65
Dates: Sat, May 24, 9:30am ~ 3:30pm
& Sat, Jun 23, 9:30am ~ 12:30pm
-------------------------------HOLLOW BOXES
Instructor: Laurie Turik
This fascinating wall hanging uses several
techniques such as the 60 degree angle,
inset seams and, most important, value.
The use of three distinct values in each
box is the secret to making these hollow
boxes so appealing with their 3-D effect.
And just to add more interest, Laurie’s
sample shows several hollow boxes with
slight variations such as a box without the
top lid, a box with one of the sides missing
and a box with thicker sides … all arranged
in a random and interesting pyramid. This
abstract quilt would be an interesting
piece to put on a wall.
All Day Class
Class fee: $ 55
Date: Fri, June 6, 9:30 am ~ 4 pm
SPICY SPIRAL ~ Table Runner
