Waupaca County 4-H Super Saturday is the largest project training held during the 4-H year and is an excellent example of
youth and adults working together in the 4-H spirit. Three objectives for Super Saturday are for members, leaders, and
parents to increase project knowledge or learn about an unknown area, for participants to share what they learn with their
club or other project members, and for youth and adults to work in partnership.
8:15 a.m. – Registration for Early Bird Participants
8:30 – 9:15 – Registration & Early Bird Class
9:15 – 9:25 – Orientation and official opening
9:25 – 10:35 - Session I
10:35-11:05 – Snack
11:05 – 12:15 - Session II
Plan to participate in the 4-H Food and Hygiene Drive while
attending Super Saturday. Donations will be collected and
distributed by the youth ambassadors to as many community
food pantries as possible around the county. Needed items
include: canned meats, peanut butter, crackers, tuna, soup,
Kleenex, shampoo, soap, and more.
Continued in 2014, the 4-H Activity Committee is offering an “Early Bird Class” as an optional class at the beginning of Super Saturday. All
youth and adults registering for Super Saturday are to sign up for sessions 1 and 2 ($6.00). The Early Bird (EB) class is an extra $3.00.
Early Bird and Session 1 (If you register for AA or BB you will be in that class for 2 sessions You can
also register for a session 2 choice (11:05 – 12:15 and your Super Sat. registration cost would be $9.00 total)

Youth Protection/Leader Orientation – If you are a new leader and need to complete the leader orientation, here
is your chance. This class is open to any new volunteers. The class will cover information about 4-H, leadership,
and child protection items. The required background check is $7.00 and your Super Saturday registration will go
towards this. Class minimum of 5, no maximum. Instructor: Connie Abert
Spinning – Learn how to use a drop spindle to make your own yarn out of wool. Open to grade 3 and above. Class
limited to 5. Instructor: Ryan Danke
Early Bird (optional & additional $3.00)(8:30 – 9:15 a.m.)
1EB. Button Flowers – Be creative and recycle buttons into pins, bracelets or other home decorations. Sewing skills are
not required. Class size limit of 20. Open to any age. Instructor: Marilyn Herman
2EB. International Travel Opportunities Through 4-H – Learn more about the trips available, tips to complete the
required paperwork, and see photos from a trip to Tanzania. Instructor: Mikayla Wehrle
3EB. Tie Dye T-shirts – Bring your own white t-shirt, 100% cotton, prewashed. Wear old clothes. Class open to any age
and a maximum of 15. Instructors: Carmen & Bernice Abel
4EB. Duct Tape Creations – Have fun with a variety of duct tape projects. Open to any age. Class limit of 12.

5EB. 4-HOline for Club Managers – If you are a club manager and would like to learn more about the 4-HOnline
system, plan to participate in this session. Instructor: Penny Tank
6EB. Glass Etching – Create your own design or use stencils to make a design on a plate, mirror, or other glass object.
Bring your own glass if you want (a flat surface is easier to etch, a round surface is harder). Class open to any age,
parents are encouraged to stay with younger members. Class may be limited. Instructors: Kari Riley & Terri Hamm
7EB. Survival Bracelets – Open to age 9 and above, younger members can participate with an adult. Class minimum of
3 and maximum of 10. Instructor: Tessa Lybert
8EB. Electricity – Learn about electricity tools/equipment and make a simple test light. Open to grades 4 and above.
Class limited to 6. Instructor: David Bork
9EB. Simple Snack Ideas – Practice making some simple snack/dessert items. Open to any age. Class size may be
limited. Instructors: Jim and Gloria Zemple
10EB. Basic Small Animal Health, First Aid, and What to do Before Help Arrives – Basic animal health involving
immunizations and medication administration; how to save an animal’s life by safe restraint, techniques to control
bleeding, and how to bandage. Class size may be limited. Open to grade 2 and above. Instructor: Colleen Rae

Shoebox Lid Wall Art – (repeated in session 2) Open to any age; we will be making a (mock canvas) picture using
a shoebox lid, scrapbook paper, mod podge and paint. Class size limited to 10. Instructor: Julia Olsen
Fly Tieing – (repeated in session 2) Learn how to tie fishing flies. Make a simple fly to take home. Class is open
to age 8 & above, limited to 5 in each session. Instructor: Mikayla Wehrle and Houston Schroeder
Rabbits – Open to any age. Learn how to choose a good market rabbit and nutrition for a market rabbit. This class
will count as an educational point for Small Market Animal. Instructors: Donna and Julia Danke
Mosaics – Learn about a variety of items you can use to make mosaics and create one to take home. Open to all
ages, parents are asked to stay with younger members. Class limit of 12. Instructor: Deb Schneider.
Wildlife Connection to 4-H – (repeated in session 2) Those animals in your “Backyard or Back 40” are amazing.
Learn about wildlife in Wisconsin with hands-on activities that you can use in everyday outdoor activities. You’ll
learn about wildlife and their habitat, identify their tracks (make them), what they eat, where they live, and how you
can improve their habitat. Also, identify animal sounds, try out binoculars, a GPS, and a compass. All ages are
invited to come and learn about WHEP and its wildlife art component. Class minimum of 5 and maximum of 50.

Finger Knitting – Have fun learning to knit on your fingers. You can make a cute scarf in an hour with no prior
knitting experience. Open to any age; parents asked to stay with younger members. Class limit of 8. Instructor:

Iris Folding – (repeated in session 2) Create a card using the Holland art of Iris Folding. Open to grades 3 and up,
maximum of 8 participants. Instructor: Amber Curtis
Horse Hair Bracelets – Make a horse hair bracelet and keep your horse with you forever! Open to grades 2 and
above. If you can, bring about 13 inches and about ½ inch thick of your horses hair. Class maximum of 20.

Painting – Learn the basics of oil painting. We will be painting on ornaments along with going over techniques,
brushes, and craft ideas. You will have the chance to work on painting your own ornament and have a fair project
done already! Open to ages 10 and up, class limit of 10. Instructor: Amy Manske
Woodworking – Build a step stool. Bring a hammer and Philips screwdriver (labeled). Open to all grade levels,
parents are asked to stay with younger members. Class size limit of 15. Instructors: David Bork and Zach Nelson
Aerospace – Learn about a variety of rockets; from what kits you can buy to assembling different types of rockets.
Make your own rocket from a kit. Open to grades 3 and above, class size may be limited. Instructor: Jarren

Recycled T-shirt Handbag – Bring an old t-shirt size medium or larger and make your own handbag. Class
minimum of 3 and maximum of 15. Open to age 10 and older; younger members can participate with an adult.

Bracelets – Make various kinds of homemade bracelets. Open to grade 4 and up, class limit of 10 participants.

Look Inside the Meat Animal Hide – Participants will get hands on experience examining a variety of fresh
internal organs of several types of livestock. A preserved 4 chambered ruminant stomach will be explored. Open to
grades 3 and above. Parents are welcome to attend with their child. Class size may be limited. This class will count
as an educational point for Large Market Animal. Instructor: Ellen C Hooker, DVM
Jewelry Making – Make a necklace using metal components, beads, and a pendant. Open to ages 12 and above.
Class size limited to 10. Instructor: Michelle McAuly

Volunteer E-Forum – The E-Forum about Technology Use in 4-H will be aired during this session. Learn tips
about internet safety, social media, and more. Each 4-H club is required to have at least one volunteer leader

Make your own hair bows – Open to all ages; younger members should have an adult stay with them. Class size
limit of 8. Instructors: Megan & Karen Zarling
Electro Connections – Introduction to electro connections with wire nuts, soldering, and more. Class open to
grades 4 and above, limit of 10. Instructor: Russ Oberstadt
Younger Member Cooking – You will be making simple munchies to eat. Good class for grades K-3. Class size
may be limited. Instructors: Carmen Abel
Goats – Would you like to learn more about the goat project? Plan to participate in this beginner session. Talk
about breeds, diseases, showmanship, and more. Open to any age, no class maximum. This class will count as an
educational point for Small Market Animal. Instructors: Donna and Julia Danke
