Owners’ Comments
Distant Drummer was commissioned in 1994 for a discerning owner and factory fitted to a high
standard. Constantly maintained and improved by the current owners, she is presented in excellent
condition with a wealth of recent high quality equipment making her one of the most impressive
Heavenly Twins 27 available today.
The hull under the waterline was epoxy coated by the factory prior to launching.
In 2007 the engine configuration was changed from a centrally mounted outboard engine to a single
diesel with hydraulic drives making her fantastically manoeuvrable. This configuration provides the
same manoeuvrability as twin diesels without compromising internal space or the stoopthrough’s.
The Heavenly Twins 27 has a well known pedigree and is held in high regard by sailors wanting a
safe, strong, seaworthy and easily handled catamaran that is ideally suited to coastal cruising and
exploring shallow creeks but also capable of crossing oceans. Distant Drummer has exceeded our
high expectations and is much loved and respected. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire an
excellent coastal or blue water cruiser.

Electronics and Navigation
Complete refit 2007. Extensive Raymarine integrated
system using SeaTalk including instruments, autopilot,
“C” series Multi Functional Display (MFD), chartplotter
and radar. The autopilot provides highly accurate
heading data. The MFD has many different display
options including radar/chart overlay and data screens.
The radar includes MARPA function to assist in collision
avoidance.

Accommodation
Distant Drummer has a smart interior in Ash veneer with teak trim and teak and holly veneer cabin
soles and Microcare®-Eco saloon seating. She comes with an offset bulkhead aft providing a huge
double cabin (6’7” long and 4’6” wide) and a large single cabin/workshop. With this configuration she
can sleep five by using the saloon as two additional berths. Alternatively with a little work the
bulkhead could be removed to create a single stateroom or moved to the centreline thus making two
double cabins – examples http://www.heavenlytwins.co.uk/master.php. Stoopthrough’s to both port
and starboard provide below deck access to all cabins. The factory moulded heads and fitted galley
are spacious and easy to clean. The interior is neat and tidy with a light and airy feel and has
excellent ventilation from opening deck hatches and portlights. There is a vast amount of useful
stowage space.

Viewing
Many airlines fly directly to La Rochelle from local UK airports during the summer months at cost
effective prices eg Ryanair, Easyjet,and Flybe. During the winter months however only Ryanair offer
the service from Stansted airport. A regular bus and train service between La Rochelle & Rochefort
makes for fast easy connections (45-50 minutes) year round. Alternatively a rental car can be sourced
at La Rochelle airport.
Cruising in Western France is highly recommended and is often described as one of the finest and
most interesting in Europe especially with its many offshore islands and significantly better climate
than the UK, however if you want to return her to the UK then this can be easily achieved in a couple
of weeks. If you fancy the Med instead, then why not consider a relaxing trip via the Canal du Midi
and be in the warm crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean in just 2-3 weeks.
