Miss Gold Dust Pageant
Guidelines
Miss Gold Dust is a natural pageant. Light makeup, semi pageant hair and
trendy/fashionable clothing is allowed.
Miss Gold Dust Rules:
*This is a natural pageant only.
*No fake teeth or eyelashes will be allowed.
*Finger nails, finger nail polish and jewelry are allowed.
*Makeup should be age appropriate.
*Formal wear is mandatory. Formal wear will consist of pageant or flower
girl/prom gowns custom made or off the rack. Minimally stoned dresses are
allowed. Dress needs to be long for the Junior through Miss divisions.
*The sound person will provide the music for all events. No personalized
music will be accepted except for talent.
*No alcohol is allowed period. Miss or Teen contestants must not appear
with alcohol in hand on internet or any other forum. Good conduct is
expected at all times.
*All queens will be expected to participate in community service, parades,
and appearances during their year in reign. They will also be expected to
come back and crown the next queen at the 2015 pageant.
*All queens will attend a photo shoot at a later date at the director’s
expense.
Pageant Rules:
*Please do not call or email to ask who will be competing or judging.
*Good sportsmanship is required at all times by contestants, parents, and
guests. Failure to comply will result in disqualification without a refund and
any rewards received will be forfeited.
*All judges’ decisions are final.
*Do not approach the judges before or during the pageant. It is ok to speak
with the judges if they approach you.
*Miss Gold Dust judges will come from outside people who are not directly
affiliated with contestants entering the pageant. All judges are volunteers.

*6mn-2yrs. Baby Miss
*3-4 yrs. Tiny Miss
*5-7 yrs. Little Miss
*8-10 yrs. Junior Miss
*11-12 yrs. Pre-Teen Miss
13-15 yrs. Teen Miss
16-18 yrs. Miss (19yrs if graduating senior of class of 2014)
Entry Deadline
All entries need to be received by June 30th, 2014. Interview time choices
will be given out as applications are received.
Dressing Room
A dressing room will be provided. NO MEN are allowed in the dressing room
at any time. Due to space each contestant may only have 1 person with
them.
Workshop
There will be a workshop in June to go over preparation for the pageant.
Areas to be covered: interview, introductions, proper stage walk for formal
wear and theme wear. We will also be able to answer any questions that you
have.
Pajama Party
There will be an event for all contestants on Thursday July 17th from 6-8pm at
the Gold Bar Elementary Gym. All girls are to wear pajamas. Pizza will be
provided. Girls will learn a routine that they will be performing at the pageant
and they will also get help on proper walking and anything else they have
questions about.
Program Book
All girls will have a photo taken at Interviews to be put in the program book.
Girls doing onstage interviews will have their photos taken at the pajama
party. Each family will receive a program book included in their entry fee.
Events:
Interview- All girls will do interview (except 2-4 yr olds. They will have on
stage questions during pageant) on Monday July 21st location GBE gym. All
questions will come from their application that they have filled out. An email
will go out with times and locations. Girls are to wear interview outfit or a
nice dress. Each contestant will need to bring either a 5x7 or 8x10 photo of
themselves. Photo will be judged for photogenic and top overall photo will be
used on the cover of the program. Photo will be returned the day of the
pageant at check in.
Production Number- All girls will learn a routine and will get to perform it in
front of their parents and friends the night of the pageant. All girls will
receive a t-shirt for participating and will wear during the production number.
Girls need to either wear denim shorts or denim capris and white tennis
shoes (no sandals or flip flops).
Recycle Wear/Gold Wear- This is our community service event. To participate
all you need to do is bring a food item for the food bank the day of the
pageant. Use your imagination and only use items you have around the house
to make a recycled outfit or wear items in the color gold.
On Stage Tot Time- All contestant’s age 2-4 yrs. will be brought up on stage
and asked some general questions by our co-director herself Katelyn Baller.
This is such a fun event and you never know how they are going to answer.
Contestants can be dressed in their own outfit of choice.
Talent- Any contestant age 5 and up can participate in talent. Talent can be
up to 2 minutes long. If contestant is using music they need to provide their
music on a cd and have it tested by the sound person before the pageant
begins. No piano will be available but contestant may bring their own
keyboard. All music and lyrics need to be age appropriate and appropriate for
the audience. Please keep all costumes modest. Talent is not included in
overall but the contestant with the highest talent score will be crowned the
overall talent queen and be able to participate in all the events throughout
the year.
Formal Wear/Introduction- All girls will participate in formal wear. You may
wear any formal dress you feel beautiful in. Prom dresses, flower girl
dresses, girl’s pageant dresses and custom made are allowed. Please keep
the glitz to a minimum. All girls ages 5 and up will be required to introduce
themselves on stage (please keep introduction to 30 seconds or less). Stage
pattern will be gone over at the workshop. If you need a dress please contact
Patty Baller as the Red Hat Ladies do have some loaners. A parent will be
required on stage with contestants ages 2-4 years old. All parents need to
dress appropriately (no low cut dresses or shirts). 2-4 yr olds will need to say
their name, age and where they are from.
Ambassador- We will be crowning one girl as our Ambassador. This girl will
be the contestant that brings in the most food donation items (we will not
accept any outdated food and please do not break up cases of water) and
has referred the most girls participating in the pageant. The ambassador will
get a crown and sash and will be able to participate in all the events through
the year.
Mini Optionals-These events will be judged during the actual events
throughout the pageant. The mini optionals consist of but not limited to: Best
Eyes, Prettiest Smile, Best Hair, Most Photogenic, Best Poise, and Best
Interview. These awards will be awarded during crowning.
Miss Congeniality- All contestants will vote for one girl to receive Miss
Congeniality. Voting will take place at the pajama party.
Crowning- Crowning will begin after all categories have finished. All girls
need to be in Formal Wear for crowning. Age division titles will be judged on
the following areas: Interview, Formal Wear and Introduction, and
Photogenic. We will be crowning with the youngest age group first and so-on.
We will crown a 1st runner up and queen in each age group. All girls will
receive a director’s gift for participating.
Parade- All the new crowned Queens will ride in the Gold Dust Parade on
Saturday July 26th. Information about time and what to wear will be given at
crowning.

Photo Waiver/General Waiver- Contestants and Parent/Guardian agree that photos of contestants may be
used for local paper, the pageant/city website, on brochures, and publications. I understand that if
contestant wins the title, there may be appearances (parades, festivals, appearances, and community
service) and that I will try my best to attend so that I am representing my title to the best of my ability. I
further agree that I understand that judge’s decisions are final and I will also not hold Gold Dust Days
Pageant responsible if I sustain injury by competing in this pageant or sustain injury by performing my
talent in this competition. If you are a title holder, you further agree that anytime you have your crown and
banner on, you will maintain integrity, and be courteous and helpful and set a good example. Both parent
and contestant understand that any behavior that is unsportsmanlike and or negative gossip about the
pageant, director and its staff will require immediate resignation of contestant’s title. Judges’ comments
are available 1 month after pageant by written request. No discussion to the director, judges, or staff
about why a contestant did not place or win on pageant weekend is not allowed. By signing I have read
