What’s Happening at the Dealership
Exciting times are ahead for both Toyota and Heffner’s . After a very difficult year
with restricted product supply due to several natural disasters that affected the supply
of parts, Toyota is back on track with a normalized vehicle supply and a barrage of
exciting new vehicles to showcase.
Lexus is getting ready to announce the new 2013 GS 350 and GS 450 Hybrid.
Additionally in the middle of the year the new 2013 Lexus ES is set to be released
in both gas and hybrid format. All Lexus models will receive a redesigned front end
featuring the dramatic new spindle grille. This will give all Lexus models a fresh, bold
new look.
On the Toyota side we just launched the all-new 2012 Camry and Camry hybrid
models as well as the new Prius V and totally redesigned Yaris Hatchback. There has
also been a fresh new update to the Tacoma pickup.
For Scion we are very ecstatic that the IQ has finally arrived; and joining the Scion
line-up in mid-year, will be the all-new FR-S sports coupe.
In addition to all of this, many more changes are expected within the next few years.
At Heffner’s we have finally moved into the new collision centre, and are currently
renovating the old centre to house or expanding Heffner Detailing Centre.
In the last Heffner Review, I talked about some new services that will be available
very soon. We now are offering chip-guard protection for the front of your vehicle as
well as the mirrors, and several other areas that are prone to chipping from stone and
sand abrasion. And very soon we will also be offering in-house window tinting. By
making these services available in-house we are able to better monitor the quality of
the applications thereby giving a first quality product to you, our valued guests.

Camry’s reimagined interior features an enlarged cabin, providing a sense of light and
open space. Greater space between front and rear seating that allows for more knee
and leg room, while rear head room was increased by re-shaping headliner over the
rear seat – thus surpassing both Ford Fusion and Hyundai Sonata when it comes to rear
head room. All achieved through improved design, waste space reduction and the use of
thinner, lighter materials, without having to increase the actual vehicle size.

We have room for your tires!
We have grown to accommodate the demand! The Toyota Parts Department now has
even MORE room to store your off-season tires! For those who were not already aware,
Heffner Toyota offers tire storage to all of our guests who wish to eliminate bringing in
their winter or summer tires each season.
Opening this past November, our new body shop and collision centre had a basement
built specifically for storing more customer tires, so they are now kept in the newest
building we have. Plus having your stored tires installed could not be easier. All we
require is 48 hours to have them removed from storage and ready to install on your
vehicle, so remember to book your appointment a few days ahead of time!
Keeping your tires in an environmentally controlled area prevents tires from suffering
damage caused by exposure to extreme temperature changes. Temperature fluctuations
can cause premature cracking in the sidewalls and shorten the life of your tires. Tires are
also heavy and take up quite a bit of space. We check your tires over thoroughly before
we put them onto your vehicle to make sure they are properly inflated so when you
arrive to have them changed over we minimize the time we require with your vehicle.
The Heffner Toyota Parts Department is offering tire storage for $12.00 per month (plus
tax) for a set of 4 and as you can see we have ample room for tires and ensure that all
the tires are kept at a consistent temperature to extend their life. We currently store
over 450 sets of tires for Heffner guests, but there is room for many more. For more

HEFFNER LEXUS SERVICE
The only place your vehicle touches the road is through the tire tread. That small
patch of rubber, about the size of the palm of your hand, determines how well the
vehicle starts, steers, and most importantly, stops.
It doesn’t matter how much power, how sophisticated the suspension or elaborate the
brake and electronic systems are - they all depend on the grip available through the
four contact patches. It stands to reason therefore that tire choice and maintenance
are critical to your safety on the road.
Generally speaking, tires can be divided into three categories: summer or high
performance, all-season and winter. There are many factors at play in tire design and
development, but the two main issues are compound and tread.
Summer or high performance tires: The rubber compound, chemicals, tread design
and construction are all maximized for warm, ambient temperatures and road
surfaces. Once the thermometer starts to drop below 7°C, these soft, compliant tires
lose their effectiveness quickly and dramatically.
All-season tires: By their very nature and description these are compromise tires
designed to be suitable for all four seasons and conditions. They do not offer the
same degree of grip in the warm summer months as the summer tires described
above, conversely they do not offer as much grip as winter tires when it gets cold. The
tread design is not as efficient in cutting through snow or gripping ice, and the same
compound that has to perform at 25°C will not be very happy at -10°C.
Winter tires: Readily identified by a pictograph of a peaked mountain with a snowflake
inside, these tires have been specifically designed for cold temperatures and snow or
ice. They meet federally mandated (Canada and U.S.) winter traction requirements
and are now required by law in Quebec. Winter tires should not be confused with tires
marked M + S. These “mud and snow” tires are a form of all-season tire and in most
cases are not suitable for very cold conditions.
Winter tires should be installed in matching sets of four. Because of their superior grip
in winter conditions, mixing them with other tires on a vehicle will create a dangerous
miss-match and likely result in a loss of control. While any winter tire will be superior
to an all-season or other type in winter conditions, this is one of these situations
where you get what you pay for.
Today’s winter tires are high-tech marvels able to deal with ice, snow, dry pavement
and wet conditions. Scientists at the various tire companies are constantly stretching
the envelope in the search for an edge (pun intended.) Multicell compounds, carbon
flakes and intricate little cutting edges and air spaces that act as miniature suction
cups are common - and the bar is raised every year as new designs and development
reach the market.

HEFFNER COLLISION CENTRE
A DREAM COME TRUE
It’s been a little over 8 years since I joined the Heffner family as the Collision
Centre Manager. At that time, my hope was to increase our customer base and create
a team of professionals who are proud to be a part of a growing collision centre.
Today I am happy to report that at the Heffner Collision Centre we‘ve built a strong
staff of technicians and advisors with the same goal - to provide the highest standard
of service and repairs to all our guests. We’ve also expanded our customer base
immensely, with people sending us their vehicles from as far away as Huntsville,
Ontario. We thank all our customers for their loyalty and wonderful comments.
But we’ve done more than build many new customer friendships and a strong team
to support these relationships. During my time here, I’ve worked in tandem with the
Heffner’s wishes of building a much larger state-of-the-art facility that would be the
gem of all body shops.
Over the years as we’ve expanded our customer base, we’ve battled with a lack of
space for all the cars that were in need of repairs. Often times at the end of a day I
would stand at the back of the completely overcrowded shop and ask myself - how are
we going to make it happen? Luckily with a staff that makes me very proud, strong
teamwork and a lot of patience we were able to work through these challenges and as
they say - “GET -ER DONE!”
Today our dream of opening a new facility has come true. It has been a long wait
but well worth it! The new shop has over 22,000 square feet of “well lit” working
room. We’ve added two new spray booths and three prep stations in our paint area.
A team of six technicians work in the refinishing area. The repair area currently has
eight licensed repair technicians and two apprentices. And our detail area has two
experienced staff on hand to finish off our repairs with a shine!
We’re also equipped with three knowledgeable and friendly advisors to provide you
with an estimate and communicate with your insurance company. We‘re ready and
willing to help you resolve all of your auto body repair concerns. We’ll assist and
guide you through the repair process and restore your vehicle back to pre-accident
condition.
Vehicles today require precision workmanship and specialized equipment to do repairs
and we have the technology to do this. For example, panels that are factory spot
welded need to be replaced the same way. Our new spot welder replicates factory
welds without
affecting the structural integrity of the vehicle. We are one of the few collision centres
with this technology.
Our Caroliner frame repair benches provide us with exact measuring to ensure the
vehicle is repaired back to its original state. And we now have a drive-through
appraisal
area for our customers to pull right in for their estimate.
I encourage all our past guests and of course anyone that would like a tour of our new
facility to drop in. Our staff would be very happy to show you around.
