URECA Celebration of Undergraduate Research
About the Center for Science and Mathematics Education:
The CENTER FOR SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (CESAME) offers opportunities for students and teachers from preschool through the university faculty level. The Center receives major funding from the National Institutes of Health,
the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), and administers several
undergraduate research programs, including Bridges to the Baccalaureate, and the HHMI Undergraduate Research
Fellowship program. Funding for the campus-wide Celebration of Undergraduate Research event in 2014 is generously
co-sponsored through an HHMI grant to Dr. David Bynum, Founder and Associate Director of CESAME.

About Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities:
The UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH & CREATIVE ACTIVITIES (URECA) program, founded in 1987, awards research
funding and travel grants to undergraduates, and is a central point of contact for students and faculty
engaged in research and creative endeavors. URECA helps bring together students and research mentors,
hosts annual events to showcase student work, and publishes an annual collection of undergraduate
abstracts. Check our URECA website for “Researcher of the Month” features. URECA is a program within
the Office of the Provost and is funded in part by the Simons Foundation.
