INSTRUCTIONS TO CREATE HEADBAND CRAFT
Child, with parent’s help, creates craft. Leader demonstrates how to make craft.
(NOTE: Order may vary depending on number and age of children making each craft. If more children prefer the reindeer, you
might start with the antlers rather than the ears.)
STEP Give each child a headband. Show
1 and explain how to wrap headband
around head. Have parent tape.
Provide extra strips if children
need longer paper.
STEP REINDEER ANTLERS
2 [First, explain to children making
bears and hares that you’ll show
them how make their ears next.]
face fold down
wrap and tape
Hold up pipe cleaner. Show and
explain how to bend pipe cleaner
to create antler. Explain there is
no wrong way, but “we’ve” found
it is easier to attach to headband
if there is a big bend in the pipe
cleaner.
Next, demonstrate how to add the
smaller pipe cleaner segments to
make it look like a real antler.
This is done by wrapping or
twisting the small segment around
the long antler. Children can bend
antlers anyway they want to
shape their antlers.
