Program Overview
and Objectives
The West Virginia chapter of the Association for Professionals
Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) invites you to
attend a two-day conference co-sponsored by Charleston
Area Medical Center and CAMC Health Education and
Research Institute. This program is designed to provide a
forum for contemporary methods of infection prevention
and control in numerous health care settings. Issues that
currently challenge the infection preventionist and others
in health care will be presented in a variety of formats
including lecture, group discussion and case studies.
Valuable opportunities to network with colleagues will be
accessible to conference participants. Exhibitors showcasing
the latest products available to enhance infection control
programs will be on hand. This program is planned for the
infection preventionists, nurses, physicians and other health
care professionals interested in infection control, infectious
disease, patient safety and performance improvement. By
attending this conference the participants should be able to:
1. Identify three areas in which the infection preventionist
can team with other health care providers to improve
patient outcomes
2. Identify steps for development of a successful model for
implementing a MRSA surveillance program and other
infectious diseases
3. Discuss the infection preventionist’s role as a change agent
and as a part of the patient safety team
