king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty
together again”
Why is it that, when we read this little
rhyme, we think of an egg? I am not sure
what the history is behind this rhyme,
but there is nothing in it that indicates
an egg.
However, I would like to look at this
rhyme as a picture of Adam’s great fall,
which brought sin to all mankind. Did
you know that there was a time when
there was no sin or death upon this
earth?
Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect
fellowship with God, and creation. But
Adam had free will, just as you and I
have, and he exercised that free will by
doing what God told him not to do. He
partook of the fruit of the tree that God
told him not to partake of.
The moment that he did that a great
separation came between God and

Adam had a great fall, and because
of that great fall, instant spiritual
death, and progressive physical death
occurred.
Sin and death go hand in hand.
Romans 5:12 says, “Therefore, just as
through one man (Adam) sin entered
into the world, and death through sin,
and so death spread to all men, because
all sinned.”
Adam polluted the human race, and
all the king’s horses and all the king’s
men could do nothing, because they
were polluted as well.
So, here we have a great problem that
no human could fix.
Is there a cure? By our own efforts,
can we be put back together?
No! But, there is One who is able and
willing to put us back together again, so
that we can once again have fellowship
with God, our creator.

Listen to God’s Word.
“For if by the transgression of the
one (Adam), death reigned through the
one, much more those who receive the
abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness will reign in life through
the One, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17.
There is no way to recover from the
fall of Adam, except through the Lord
Jesus Christ.
So, I have written my own rhyme. It
goes like this:
“Adam sat on a wall,
Adam had a great fall
And with that fall, came sin upon all
But through God’s grace
The Lord Jesus restored the race.”
Yes, by grace, God is offering us
salvation, by accepting the Lord Jesus
as our personal Saviour.
It is the only way that we can recover
from Adam’s fall.
“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he
is a new creature; the old things passed
away; behold, new things have come.”
2Corinthians 5:17.
