The 2010 V8 Supercar Championship
Series was a tough one for Australia’s most
successful and popular V8 Supercar team,the
Toll Holden Racing Team – the official factory
racing team of Holden. After the euphoria of
Garth Tander and Will Davison clean sweeping
both the Phillip Island and Bathurst endurance
races in 2009 and Davison finishing as
championship runner up, last season was much
more challenging for the factory Holden squad.
Always the fighter, Tander took three series race
wins and two victories in the non-championship
Grand Prix event, along with claiming five poles,
to finish the year fifth overall.
The 2011 season sees a fresh, dynamic re-design
of the HRT logo and car livery. With a new driving
combination and a firm resolve, Tander, James
Courtney and the Toll Holden Racing Team are
dedicated to capturing more silverware and push
the most successful team in the history of V8
Supercars HRT back to the top in 2011.

If there was ever someone that perfectly fitted the public perception of a racing car driver, it is the Toll Holden Racing Team’s star signing
for 2011, James Courtney. Beginning his car racing career in the UK in 1999 success quickly followed, Courtney winning the British Formula
Ford Championship in 2000 and runner-up in the British F3 title two years later.Long touted as Australia’s ‘next’ Formula 1 driver after Mark
Webber, Courtney’s outstanding results in junior formulae led to him being drafted into the Jaguar Formula 1 team as official test driver
for 2002, however a heavy testing crash caused by a mechanical failure put an early end to his season’s work.
The jet-setting Courtney then competed in Japan for three years, winning the All Japan F3 Championship in 2003 before embarking on his
Touring Car in the high-tech Japanese Super GT Championship, finishing seventh in 2005.Recognised as a possible future star, Courtney
was signed by the Holden Racing Team to partner Jim Richards in the 2005 enduros, his raw talent and fan appeal immediately evident,
placing Courtney in high demand for the 2006 season and beyond – Courtney subsequently spending
three years at Stone Brothers Racing and two at Dick Johnson Racing before his return to HRT
this year.
As reigning V8 Supercar Champion, Courtney brings home to HRT with him the coveted
number 1 plate and the highly sought Barry Sheene Medal,V8 Supercar’s version of the
AFL’s Brownlow Medal, awarded to the category’s ‘best and fairest’ driver.With the #1
on the side of his Toll HRT Commodore, Courtney will have the entire field gunning
for him in 2011, but with the might of the Toll Holden Racing Team behind him he is
more than capable of defending his championship crown.

A part of the Toll Holden Racing Team since 2008, the fast, intelligent and articulate
Garth Tander is held in the highest regard as one of Holden’s major assets, as an outstanding corporate spokesperson off the race track, and a winning champion on it.
The 2007 V8 Supercar Champion and dual Bathurst 1000 winner’s talents behind the wheel of a V8
Supercar are underlined by the fact that he has finished no lower than sixth place in the series points since 2005.After winning the
Australian Formula Ford title in 1997, Tander began his V8 career with Garry Rogers Motorsport the following year, but his name really
came to the fore in 2000 when he was runner-up in the title chase to Mark Skaife, winning the then season-ending Bathurst 1000 alongside Jason Bargwanna in the process.
Tander joined the HSV Dealer Team in 2005 and his time with the team culminated in his championship victory in 2007, switching across
to the factory Toll Holden Racing Team the following year. Success followed, highlighted by his clean sweep of the 2009 enduros, including a dominating performance in that year’s Bathurst 1000. Despite scoring five poles, winning three races and finishing fifth in points,
2010 was challenging for Tander and HRT where nothing less than first place is deemed success. But nobody works harder outside the car
than Tander, and together with new team-mate James Courtney he is more determined than ever to take the team back to the top in
2011.
