A NOTE FROM YOUR EDITOR
our years ago Jane and I made the move to Raleigh from Tampa, Florida,
leaving behind the church where we met and were married, as well as our
daughter, other family members, and friends that we had made over our 20+
years there. Now, in the words of that immortal philosopher Yogi Berra – this is
like déjà vu all over again! In early June, we are making a move that will bring
us very close to our long-held goal of a home in the mountains of North Carolina, leaving behind a church and congregation that we have come to love.
And that means, after 2½ years as your newsletter editor, it’s time to pass the
torch. If you have a basic understanding of Microsoft Publisher and wouldn’t be
shy about harassing congregation leaders for overdue articles, then this is a fun
way to serve APLC. If you are interested, please contact the church office or
speak to Pastor Jeffrey.
Jane and I will miss Abiding Presence, and you will always be in our prayers.

O
ur Church will once again sponsor a farm
workers’ dinner for approximately 110 seasonal farm workers at St. Bernadette's Catholic

Volunteers will be needed to supply the food,

Thank You!!!
BIG Sunday School “Thank You”
Another great Sunday School year has come to an end, and what a great year it was! Thank you to all the
teachers, assistants and parents who invested so much time in this year of Sunday School. Thank you to Amanda
for the addition of the Sunday School Singers for the younger youth and to Pat and Hugh for accompanying on
the guitar. The kids really had fun and were sad the first Sunday we did not stay to sing. Thank you to the
parents of AoB youth who helped lead and assist their program.
This year we also tried something new and had High School youth lead their own Sunday School class. They really enjoyed this. Thank you to the High School youth who volunteered their time to lead the class.
We will start Sunday School back in the fall. During the summer, please prayerfully consider helping the Sunday
School program. Our pre-K thru 5th grade program does a rotation between story, craft, and game/snack every
week. For this we need three teachers, one for each station, and at least three assistants. We can always use
help during our Sunday School Singing with crowd control. Trust me, this is a lot of fun to help with. Some
weeks, you will even feel like you got your work-out in for the day!
Please be on the lookout for details about help needed for our younger
youth Sunday School and other age groups of Sunday School around
the end of summer. I hope that many of you will choose to get involved. You will not regret it!
Thanks again everyone!

nother great year done and it ended with a bang! Two awesome ceremonies rounded out a fabulous school year. The four and five year olds graduated from preschool with a great graduation ceremony complete with caps and gowns. And the younger students were blessed by Pastor Jeffrey in a
Blessing of the Children ceremony. Check out our APPLESeeds Preschool Facebook page to see lots of
pictures!
Summer camp will be starting soon and lots of super fun activities
have been planned. We will be hunting for pirate treasure, making
smores, sliding on water slides, and a whole lot more. Not to mention
all of the great praise music and funny skits we perform for camp
opening and closing. Information about the summer camps is available in the Narthex for anyone interested in a day camp for ages
3 - 6. Hope to see you there!

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED!
Alexander Roy, a member of Holly Springs Boy Scout Troop 413, would
like to present his Eagle Scout project to APLC. His project consisted of
building a pergola, benches and landscaping the surrounding island it is
built on. As a member of the church, Alexander had hoped to provide a
nice gathering area outside for the youth as well as the congregation. He
hopes that this area will be a popular gathering space for years to come.

BBQ fun at APLC
here is still time to get your tickets for the June 27th BBQ. Along
with great food, fun, raffles and games, we will have live music offered
by the band Thursdays Flight. Many of the band members are members
of our congregation. For those of you who love to bake, we will be having a dessert tasting contest that you can enter. Entry forms will be handed out
in your mailboxes and in Sunday’s bulletins. Enter
your favorite creation for all of us to taste! This
will be a great evening for the whole family. Also,
if you are interested in signing up to help with the
event, please stop by the sign up station. We are
looking for people to sign up for 1/2 time slots.
Stop by and check it out. For more questions,
please contact Debbie Worden at 919-757-5810 or
[email protected]. We hope you will come enjoy
a great evening and support an important ministry.
