• T ake off the mouthpiece cover from the inhaler and check
inside and outside to make sure that the mouthpiece is
clean and free of objects.
• If the inhaler is new or has not been used for a week or
more, point the mouthpiece away from you and release one
or two puffs into the air.
6
• H
old the device as shown. Breathe out as far
as is comfortable and then...
• S
hake the inhaler 4 or 5 times to ensure that
any loose objects are removed and that the
contents of the inhaler are well mixed.

• P lace the mouthpiece in your mouth between
your teeth. Close your lips firmly around the
mouthpiece but do not bite it.

medicine goes into your lungs.
• You do not need to take the Volumatic out of your mouth

or rattle as you breathe through it. If you do not hear it, tilt the
Volumatic up slightly and try again.

• F it the inhaler firmly into the end of the
Volumatic, opposite the mouthpiece. Check
the mouthpiece of the Volumatic inside and
outside to make sure that it is clean.
8
• H old your breath, take the Volumatic out of your mouth and your finger
from the top of the inhaler. Continue holding your breath for a few
seconds, or as long as comfortable.
• Breathe out.
• If you need to take more than one puff, remove the inhaler by tilting the
top forward and repeat steps 3 to 9. Wait for around 30 seconds before
taking each puff of medicine.
• After use, remove the inhaler from the Volumatic. Replace the mouthpiece
cover to keep out dust and fluff.
