NX Tips
1. How to make components display by same color with parts?
Step1; On assembly navigator, right click wanted components.From pop up menu
go to Properties.
Step2. On next dialog Component Properties go to page Assembly, uncheck
Specific Component Color.
Step3: OK the dialog and you can find that components have changed it’s color
back to that of part.
2. How to avoid the warning about unit conflict?
In NX3, you can specify the desired unit for the selected dimension type

dimension to use for new
expressions.
All types of dimensions
specified by the Units
Manager are listed in
the pull-down menu
But when you use a complicated formula with high degree to define a variable,
you perhaps get an error:
For avoid this warning, please choice the “constant” for the Dimensionality before
create the expression, and you can create the variable with non-unit without any
warning about unit conflict.
I-deas/NX Nastran Tips
3. Beyond installing and licensing I-deas NX Series, what do I
need to do to run MasterFEM/NX Nastran Desktop?
While there is a NX Nastran task now included in I-deas NX Series, NX Nastran
Desktop is an additional item.
First you must install NX Nastran from the separate NX Nastran CDs. Next for
users running I-deas NX Series 11, you will need to set up a separate license
server for NX Nastran.
(This need is planned to go away in I-deas NX Series
12.) After installing and licensing NX Nastran, there still are a couple more steps.
Make sure that the ..\UGS\NXNastran\3.0\conf\nast3.rcf file contains a "Auth="
line that points to the correct license server. This will likely have the format:
Auth=port@host
Finally, in I-deas NX Series, go to the NX Nastran task and select the "Solve"
icon. Pick "Options" on the ensuing form. Then select the toggle next to NX
Nastran Desktop and provide a path to the NX Nastran executable. For example
on Windows: ..\UGS\NXNastran\3.0\nxn3\i386\nastran.exe On other platforms, "i386"
would be replaced with the system type in the path.
