How to use this SpeedVac
ATTENTION: New Protocol!!!
Please, read the new instructions before use!
1. Check whether there is water in the Cold Trap, empty if necessary.
Switch on the cooling half an hour before use.
2. Check oil level of the vacuum pump (see window on the front, level must be in
between Min and Max).
Gas ballast (gray valve on top of the vacuum pump) must be CLOSED.
Switch on the vacuum pump with the three-way valve downwards (the pump has
contact with the air).
Turn the three-way valve upwards applying vacuum to the pump.
Leave the pump on vacuum for at least 30 minutes (pump and pump-oil must be
very HOT before use)!!!
3. Turn the three-way valve to the left applying vacuum to the Cold Trap (and the
SpeedVac SPD111V concentrator).
4. Turn the power switch of the SpeedVac SPD111V concentrator to ON, located on the
back of the unit.
5. Place sample tubes in rotor so load is balanced.
Close cover.
6. Using the “SELECT” button and the up/down keys, set temperature to “no”, for no heat.
7. Press the “MANUAL RUN” button.
The cover locks and rotor starts turning.
The SAV valve will actuate, applying vacuum to the chamber.
The decimal point blinks and the time display begins counting up.
8. To end the manual run press “STOP” button.
The display will show “End”, the SAV valve will click allowing air to bleed into the chamber.
After the rotor stops spinning, the cover unlocks and the display reverts to last set parameters.
9. Open cover and remove samples.
10. Now only bleed the vacuum of the Cold Trap by turning the three-way valve up.
Gas ballast (gray valve on top of the vacuum pump must be open (position I).
11. Leave the pump on vacuum for a minimum of 10 minutes (max. 30 min).
This is to allow the pump-oil to get rid of all vapors.
12. Bleed the vacuum of the pump (turning the three-way valve down) then switch off
the pump.
13. Switch off the Cold Trap and the SpeedVac concentrator.
