POOLS INSTRUCTIONS BOTTOM SKIMMER VALVE OPERATION
POOLS INSTRUCTIONS BOTTOM SKIMMER VALVE OPERATION As the name implies, this valve is found at the bottom of the skimmer, below the basket. (See picture of the skimmer) Normal filtration position: When the red lever is horizontal (laid down) and the swivelling cover is opened, the pump will suction 50% from the skimmer and 50% from the bottom drain. This is the normal filtration position, the suction is done by the skimmer and bottom drain. Vacuum position: When the red lever is vertical (up) and the swivelling cover is open, the pump will only suction from the skimmer. This is the vacuum position; the suction is only done by the skimmer. Pool drain position: When the red lever is horizontal (laid down) and the swivelling cover is shut, the pump will only suction from the bottom drain. This is the draining position. HOW TO USE THE VACUUM Connect the telescopic pole to the vacuum. Take the vacuum hose and check both ends of the hose: one end swivels and the other is fixed. Place the swivelling end of the vacuum hose to the head of the vacuum and lower it to the bottom of the pool. Fill the vacuum hose with water to eliminate air pockets inside the hose. (Tip: place the hose in front of a return jet to properly fill it with water). Remove the basket from the skimmer and place the valve's red lever at the bottom of the skimmer in the vertical position. This way, the suction will only be coming from the pump to the skimmer. Replace the basket in the skimmer. Connect the fixed end of the vacuum hose to the Skim-Vac. Place the Skim-Vac above the basket. This way, the debris that could possibly block your pipes will remain in the skimmer's basket. The rest of the smaller debris that will be sucked up will be directly sent to your filter. Vacuum the water slowly to avoid creating too much stir and ensure an effective cleaning. If the suction decreases, check if the basket in the skimmer needs to be emptied. Then, verify the pump's basket. If this situation persists, verify the gauge at the top of the filter and if the reading indicates 5 pounds or more than a normal pressure, a Backwash must be performed. FILTER AND MULTIPORT VALVE FUNCTIONS Filter : ** This position is the normal filtration mode. It is used for vacuuming during the summer. Backwash : ** This position is for cleaning the filter. - A Backwash is necessary when the filter’s pressure experiences a 4 to 5 pound increase. Check your gauge to determine if the pressure is above normal. Install your drain hose. Then shut the pump and set the multiport valve to the Backwash position. Then, restart the pump and run the backwash for two minutes or less depending on the amount of debris that has accumulated. Check the sightglass installed on the top of your filter, and when the water flowing through is clear again, the Backwash is finished. However, a Rinse should always be performed following a Backwash. - - Rinse : ** This position must be performed following a Backwash to put the sand/glass in your filter back into place. - - After the Backwash, shut off the pump and set the multiport valve to the Rinse position. Restart the pump for approximately 30 seconds to one minute. (Check the sightglass) This way, you can make sure that the dirty water from the Backwash is evacuated from the filter by your backwash hose. Shut off the pump, set the multiport valve to the Filter position, then restart the pump and restart normal filtration. Waste : ** This function allows the water to flow from the filter. - - It is normally used to drain or lower the water level in the pool and to vacuum and drain thick debris directly through the drain hose. When using this function, the water level of your pool will quickly decrease, making it necessary to verify the water level in the draining well to ensure that there is always more water in the pool than in the well. Recirculate : ** This function allows the water to recirculate through the pool's system without passing through the filter. This function will give a normal pressure reading on your gauge. Winter : ** All lines are opened. Closed: ** All lines are closed. FIBRE GLASS : CLEANING TIPS Using a sponge or an abrasive brush, wipes if necessary any spot of dirt, grease or sunscreen deposit. If some spots near the edge of the pool resists your efforts, use either biodegradable household cleaners (eg Clean & Perfect, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser) or cleaning products available at any pool store. IMPORTANT : Never use steel wool or any other wire brush. The metal will affect the finished «gelcoat» of your pool.
