challenging starting point when we designed the
new algorithms and configurations for our ultra-fast
Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) read alignment
and variant calling solution; GENALICE MAP.
MAP transforms DNA-Seq and RNA-Seq research
projects, in terms of both speed and quality. Our
groundbreaking NGS data processing solution is
particularly suitable for processing large scale, e.g.
Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), projects.
MAP runs on commodity Intel Xeon E5 processors and is delivered in a turn-key appliance, the
GENALICE VAULT, which also contains real-time
monitoring, workflow management software and an
embedded database.
The alignment speed is simply unbeaten and ranges
from an average of 32 minutes for one human
genome equivalent with an average coverage of 37x
(1 HGE37) on the XS model to only 2 minutes for
1 HGE37 on the XL model. Each MAP module with
a standard dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 series CPU can
align 40-130 Megabases/second, which is up to 100x
faster than conventional alignment tools.
Users have the opportunity to work with the
proprietary small file format GAR (GENALICE Aligned
Reads) or to convert these near- time to the widely
used BAM files. GAR files are also compatible with
most downstream analysis tools.
