Sample Syllabus
REQUIRED MATERIALS
Essential Study Skills, current edition by Linda Wong
Notebook with pocket folders or several loose pocket folders with clips.
ATTENDANCE
Miami REQUIRES attendance at every class. There is NO excused absence.
Five points will be awarded for each class attended.
ASSIGNMENTS
All work is to be done in proper compositional form, including complete
sentences, paragraphs, etc. The work must be edited for grammar and
content, including spelling errors.
Any other writing assignments are to be done on your own paper and are to
be typed, double spaced, with one inch margins. The font is to be no larger
than 12.
Late assignments WILL NOT be accepted unless preapproved.
There is no makeup for missed quizzes.
Cheating and Plagiarism: Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and
will result in an “F” for the assignment. A second incidence will result in an
“F” for the semester and be reported to the administration.
CELL PHONES
Please turn off cell phones while in class. Emergencies may require your
phone to be set to vibrate.
GRADES
A - 90%, B – 80%, C – 70%, D – 60%
