NULLITY AND LEGITIMACY

After breakfast, morning visit to Padre Pio Shrine and
Basilica. We will celebrate Mass in the Basilica. In the
afternoon drive to San Michele Grotto for a visit.

After breakfast depart for Sorrento by private coach.
On the way we will stop in Montemiletto, the village
of Father Capone’s family. Proceed to Sorrento, check
in at Hotel Caesar Augusto.
Friday, March 4th
After breakfast, depart by private coach for a tour of
the Amalfi Coast along the Mediterranean Sea and a
visit to the town of Amalfi, the Basilica of St. Andrew.
Saturday, March 5th
After breakfast, full day excursion to Capri. You will
take the high speed Hydrofoil to the Marina of Capri
and transfer to the mini-bus up to Capri and Anacapri
including the Giardini di Augusto with your local guide
Sunday, March 6th
After breakfast, Sunday Mass will be celebrated, then
we depart by private coach for a full day at Pompeii
to visit the excavations with your local guide.
Monday, March 7th
After breakfast, depart by private coach for Rome.
On the way we will stop in Monte Cassino for a
visit in the famous Cassino Abbey with Mass being
celebrated in the crypt. Arriving in Rome we will check
into the Hotel Michelangelo beside the Vatican.
Tuesday, March 8th
After breakfast, a short stroll to St. Peter’s Basilica for
Mass in one of the chapels near the Tomb of St. Peter.
From there we walk to the Vatican Museum with
our local guide, having priority entrance arranged we
will tour the Museum and visit the Sistine Chapel.
Wednesday, March 9th
After breakfast, walk to St. Peter’s Square for the
Papal Audience. The audience will last until 1:30, then
the afternoon and evening on your own.
Thursday, March 10th
After breakfast, meet your private coach and
proceed for a full day tour of the Roman Basilicas,
St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, the Holy Stairs,
Sante Croce, and St. Paul’s Outside the Wall. Return
to the hotel to freshen up. Our Farewell Dinner together will be in a restaurant in Trastevere.
Friday, March 11th
After an early breakfast, depart for Rome’s Fiumicino
Airport for our direct flight back to Boston. Leaving
Rome on Alitalia Airlines at 10:30 am and arriving
Boston at 1:55 pm. Welcome home!

What is life really all about? What direction is my life
headed? At LUX you can ask those kinds of questions
(and more!) and talk with your friends and Y.M.
leaders. LUX meets Wednesday nights for teens who
wish to learn more or grow in their faith through
conversation, laughter, and prayer -- taking on life's
tough questions with a group of friends and leaders
you can trust. What will you hear about at LUX?
Throughout the summer we will talk about life,
who God is and how He fits into everything. If you
want to know more about what it means to be a
Catholic Christian, we'll talk about that too. So bring
your questions, opinions, and friends.
LUX is a great place for you to be.
Jesus and the disciples decide to go away to a quiet
place so that they can be by themselves and rest for a
while. They have been working hard and must have been
tired. But what happens?
People see them going and decide that they want to
hear what Jesus has to say. So they hurry off to the
place the disciples are headed for. They get there first,
so when Jesus and the disciples arrive by boat there is
already a large crowd waiting for them.
How do you think Jesus and his disciples felt when they
saw the crowd waiting for them?
Can you think of a time when you wanted to be alone,
or you wanted to spend some time relaxing, but other
people had other ideas? How did it make you feel to be
interrupted? What did you do?
How do you think you would feel if you were Jesus, and
you were hoping for some peace and quiet, but lots of
people wanted your attention? What does Jesus do?
Even though he is tired and wanted to spend time quietly
resting, Jesus feels sorry for the crowd. He sees that they
need him so he doesn’t send them away. Instead he talks
to them and teaches them for a long time.
Jesus put the needs of the crowd before his own. He
didn’t get cross with them, he is compassionate, can see
that they need him and so spends time with them.
Let us try to be like Jesus in this reading - patient and
kind. Let us treat all people with respect, even when we
are upset and would rather do something else. Let us
treat other people as we would like to be treated.

Pope Francis
“In the family,
everything is interconnected”
Following his recent catechesis on external threats to the family, such as poverty and illness, His Holiness,
Pope Francis addressed the faithful gathered for the general audience on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 and
spoke about those wounds that are produced as a result of family cohabitation.
In all families there are moments of discord, but when harmful words, acts and indifference are ignored,
they can be aggravated and transformed into arrogance, hostility and contempt, which can become deep
lacerations, dividing husband and wife and inducing them to seek understanding, support and consolation
elsewhere. “But often, these forms of support do not think of the good of the family and frequently the effects
of separation have an impact on the children”.
“But do we still know what a wound to the soul is? Do we feel the weight of the mountain that crushes the
soul of a child, in families in which the members treat each other badly and harm each other, to the point of
breaking the bonds of conjugal trust?” asked the Pope. … When adults lose their head … when the father and
mother harm each other, the soul of the child suffers greatly, feeling a sense of desperation. And they are

“In the family, everything is interconnected: when its soul is wounded at some point, the infection spreads
throughout. … Husband and wife are one flesh”, emphasized the Pope, “But their creatures are flesh of their
flesh. If we think of the severity with which Jesus warns adults not to offend the little ones, we can also better
understand his word on the grave responsibility of safeguarding the conjugal bond that is at the origin of the
human family. When a man and a woman become one flesh, all the wounds and neglect of the father and
mother are brought to bear on the living flesh of the children”.
The Holy Father also spoke about those cases in which separation is inevitable or indeed morally
necessary “to remove the weaker spouse, or young children, from the wounds caused by arrogance and
violence, debasement and exploitation, estrangement and indifference”.
However, he said, there is no lack of those who, thanks to God, “supported by faith and love for their
children, bear witness to their faithfulness in a bond in which they have believed, however impossible it may
seem to revive it. Not all separated people have this vocation, though. Not all recognize, in their solitude, the
Lord's call to them. We find many families in irregular situations around us. And this poses many questions: how
can we help them? How can we accompany them? How can we accompany them so the children do not become
hostages to their father or mother?”.
The Pope concluded his catechesis by asking the Lord for “great faith, to look upon reality through the
eyes of God; and great charity, to be near to people with a merciful heart”.
