The Pastor’s Perspective …
Dear Parishioners,
“Send forth your Spirit, and they are created and you renew
the face of the earth” (Ps 104:30).
These words ring true in our hearts and on our lips as we
celebrate this great Solemnity of the sending forth of the
Spirit - Pentecost! Perhaps, on Pentecost Sunday, we could
make our own prayer that of Pope John XXIII who, in
preparation for the Second Vatican Council, prayed:
“Renew your wonders in this our day, as by a new
Pentecost. Grant to your Church that, being of one mind
and steadfast in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and
following the lead of blessed Peter, it may advance the
reign of our Divine Savior, the reign of truth and justice, the
reign of love and peace.”

This Pentecost, in particular, as a parish community we
pray for a new outpouring of the Spirit on those who will be
receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at the 9:30am
Mass and becoming full members of the Catholic Church.
We are only a few weeks away from Corpus Christi Sunday.
As we have done these past 3 years, we will gather for a
Family Mass at 11:30am, followed by a Eucharistic
Procession around our Church grounds and a Family Picnic
to follow. This Corpus Christi Celebration will always be one
of my greatest memories of my time here as Pastor. And so
this year, the Family Picnic will also be the farewell party
for myself and Deacon Jack Vassallo.
Rain or shine we will gather to honor Our Lord's presence
in the Holy Eucharist by celebrating Mass together
and bringing Our Lord out of the Church and into the
streets.

FAITH IN OUR FUTURE
St. Paul reminds us we are part of “one body in Christ and
are individually parts of one another.” This is true for all
baptized Christians. None of us stands alone. It is also true
for our parish communities. None of our parishes stands
alone. “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one
part is honored, all the parts share its joy” (1 Cor 12:26). We
are part of the local Church, the Diocese of Trenton, and
we are interdependent.
The Faith in Our Future cohort process is asking parishes to
explore how our interdependence can be a source of
strength. One of its goals is that we become more
intentionally collaborative. Collaboration goes beyond
cooperation on Penance services and coordination of
hospital coverage. It involves giving up a false sense of
autonomy, in order to participate in something better,
bigger, more impactful than what your parish can do on its
own. Collaboration is based on mutual respect and the
sharing of gifts placed throughout the one Catholic
community. It is inherent in what it means to be Church.

Church of the Holy Name, Delran
For the past 23 years, Holy Name has had a little prayer
chapel where Jesus is exposed in the monstrance 24 hours
a day, 7, days a week, making it possible for anyone to visit
