"Rise Above" Weekend Renewal
Nov. 7-8 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Lower
Sackville. Sponsored by the Catholic Charismatic
Renewal Pamphlets in church entrance.
Prayer to the Holy Family for the Synod
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
in you we contemplate
the splendour of true love,
to you we turn with trust.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that our families too
may be places of communion and prayer,
authentic schools of the Gospel
and small domestic Churches.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
may families never again
experience violence, rejection and division:
may all who have been hurt or scandalized
find ready comfort and healing.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
may the approaching Synod of Bishops
make us once more mindful
of the sacredness & inviolability of the family,
and its beauty in God’s plan.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
graciously hear our prayer.
Amen
God of all blessings, source of all life,
giver of all grace: we thank you for the
gift of life, for the breath that sustains life,
for the food of this earth that nurtures life,
for the life-giving love of family and
friends. We thank you for the mystery of
creation: for the beauty of
the Earth that the eye can
see, for the unfolding universe that draws us beyond our imaginings. We
thank you for the communities to which
we belong: for families, for friends, for
neighbors and for companions at work.
We thank you for the strangers who welcome us into their lives and whom we
invite to be part of ours. We thank you for
our brothers and sisters of all ages, all
races, all nations and all faiths. We thank
you for the multitude of ways that you call
us to be stewards of the gifts of creation
and to serve others in your name. We
thank you for the companionship we
share and the bountiful goodness of the
bread we break together. God of all
goodness, we pray in thanks for your
presence among us as we gather together, and your promise to be with us now
and always.
AMEN.

This Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Canada will hear
an appeal by the BC Civil Liberties Assoc. that will grant
terminally ill patients the right to assisted suicide.
Federal Justice Minister Peter MacKay's office has stated
that presently Criminal Code provisions that prohibit assisted suicide and euthanasia "are in place to protect all
persons, including those most vulnerable in our society."
Please come out and pray that the present provisions remain in place. Pray, as well, for a greater respect for human life from conception till natural death.

Marian Hour of Prayer- 7:00 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus extend an invitation to all for
this special Marian Hour of Prayer in the presence of
the Icon of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
This fall the icon is traveling from council to council within
the province.
Sunday October 19 World Mission Day: There will be
a special collection next Sunday. Pope Francis writes:
“Today vast numbers of people still do not know Jesus
Christ. For this reason, the mission ad gentes continues to
be most urgent. All the members of the Church are called
to participate in this mission, for the Church is missionary
by her very nature: she was born “to go forth”. World
Mission Day is a privileged moment when the faithful of
various continents engage in prayer and concrete gestures
of solidarity in support of the young Churches in mission
lands. It is a celebration of grace and joy. A celebration of
grace, because the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father, offers
wisdom and strength to those who are obedient to his action. A celebration of joy, because Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, sent to evangelize the world, supports and accompanies our missionary efforts… A monetary contribution on the part of individuals is the sign of a self-offering,
first to the Lord and then to others; in this
way a material offering can become a means
for the evangelization of humanity built on
love.”
PRAYING WITH JESUS IN
THE HOLY LAND with Spiritual Leaders Fr. Morris and Fr. Craig Cameron

Sow Much Love!
Development and Peace has launched a
new campaign to raise awareness of the crucial role of small family farmers in the Global
South in feeding the world, and the growing
threat to their right to save the seeds. This
is a vital part of our mission as Catholic
Christians." To do all this, we need Development and Peace. It is our vocation as Christians to be connected to the poor, the weak,
the stranger, the widow, the orphan." –Pope
Francis
The Development and Peace committee
will be meeting in the Board Room at St.
Francis Parish Centre, Wolfville, on Tuesday,
