ODOT District 5 Weekly Traffic Advisory
For the week of October 10, 2014
The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions
and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 5, which includes the counties of
Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum, and Perry. All work is weather permitting. For statewide

COSHOCTON COUNTY
Ongoing
The Lake Park Pedestrian Bridge: The closure of this structure is schedule for October 20, 2014. Crews
will work between Roscoe Village and Lake Park on the pedestrian foot bridge. Pedestrian and bike traffic
will be detoured to White Woman street, Chestnut Street, 2nd Street, and to Bridge Street. The estimated
completion date is June 30, 2015.
Twp. Rd. 90: The road closed September 2nd and will remain closed for 45 days for the replacement of the
existing bridge structure. This closure will occur just east of Twp. Rd. 205. It is expected to reopen October
13th, weather permitting.
SR 60: Crews will continue to perform a bridge replacement in Metham, between CR 24 and CR 49. The road
closed July 21 and will remain closed until approximately Oct. 31, weather permitting.
Detour: Northbound traffic should follow SR 36 west to SR 206 north to US 62 east, and reverse for
southbound. As of 10/8 the road is open to traffic. Contractor will continue working on the bridge painting
item without interfering with the traffic.
FAIRFIELD COUNTY
October 13 *New
US 22: The road will close between Columbus Street and Memorial Drive while the contractor performs
corrective work on concrete pavement. The road will be closed for 6 days. All work is weather permitting.
Detour:
Traveling West on US-22: Main Street to High Street to Wheeling to Memorial Drive.
Traveling East on US-22: Memorial Drive to Chestnut to High Street.
GUERNSEY COUNTY
October 14 *New
SR 265: Crews will work to replace a culvert just west of Frankfort Road as part of a larger culvert
replacement project. This is the last of three replacements. The road will be closed for 10 days beginning
10/14/14.
Detour: SR 265 to SR 285 to IR 70 to SR 513 to SR 265 and reverse.
October 14 & October 15 *New
Annual bridge inspections will occur in the City of Cambridge. Work will occur on the US 22 viaduct bridge
10/14 from 8am to 1pm and 10/15 from 8am to 3pm on the SR 209 Southgate Parkway Bridge.
October 15*New
SR 209: Will be closed from the Cambridge City limits to Coshocton Ave beginning October 15th for 30
days for slip repair.
Detour: SR 209 to SR 83 to US 22 and reverse.
Ongoing
SR 209: The southbound lanes will close while Shelly and Sands Inc. work to improve lighting and signals,
perform sidewalk construction, and asphalt resurfacing for the City of Cambridge.
Detour: For SR209 southbound traffic traveling east on US22/40: US40 ↔ IR77 ↔ IR70 ↔ SR209. For
traffic traveling west on US22/40 desiring to turn on SR209 SB: US40 ↔ SR723 ↔ IR70 ↔ SR209
I-70 and SR 265: All project work is complete except for a few final clean-up items.
SR 513 and SR 761: All resurfacing is now complete. Storm sewer installation work in the Village of Quaker
City is also complete. Work will continue to install raised pavement markers and place all pavement markings.
US 22: Guardrail upgrades continue from I-77 to Harrison County. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers as
needed. Crews will be moving to Perry County SR 188 at High Point Rd mid next week.
I-70: The culvert pipe under IR 70, just west of Arrowhead Road is now complete and the other, beneath
Arrowhead Road, just north of and parallel to IR 70, is currently having a new liner pipe installed. There
should be little to no impact on traffic, except occasional flagging on Arrowhead Road. Scheduled completion
is October 15th.
KNOX COUNTY
October 8 *New
SR 229: The road is closed at the 1.70 mile marker in Knox County (between Dunham and Tucker Roads) for
an emergency culvert replacement. The closure will begin Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 7:30 AM and
weather permitting the road will be open to traffic by Friday, October 10, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
Detour: US 36 W to SR 314 N and reverse.
Ongoing
Pavement Resurfacing will continue on US 62 between the Licking County line and the Holmes County line.
One lane of traffic will remain open and maintained with flaggers. Contractor will be placing the surface
course between SR 229 and Holmes county line. Work will take place 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Estimated
completion is Oct. 31.
LICKING COUNTY
Ongoing
TJ Evans Trail: Work will continue on constructing a new bikeway bridge in the Village of Granville. The
bridge will connect TJ Evans Trail to Raccoon Valley Park. The estimated completion date for the project is
May 31, 2015.
Licking Trail Road: Will be closed over I-70 until mid-fall while crews repair the bridge. Two lanes traffic
on I-70 will be maintained during the daytime.
Detour: Christland Hill Rd to Lancer Rd to US 40 and reverse.
Refugee/York Road Intersection: Work will continue on a bridge replacement and improvement project,
without affecting traffic. Contractor working on the bridge abutments and piers. Road closures will occur in
the spring of 2015. Estimated completion of the project is fall of 2015.
CR 539 (Broadway/Granville-Newark Rd.): The project is complete except for adjustments to be made to
manholes and catch basins to bring them to new pavement grades. Crews will be on site periodically to
complete this work prior to the completion date Oct 31st. Daily short lane closures will be in place when crews
are working.
SR 37: Crews are working on paving intersections and driveways between US 40 intersection and SR 16
interchange. Contractor will be installing rumble stripes and pavement marking.
During the project, one lane will be closed and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work will take place
between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The target completion date for this project is October 31, 2014.
CR 315(Stadden Bridge Road): A bridge replacement project between Claylick road and Colling road.
Crews working on backfilling on both sides of the new structure. The road is expected to reopen at the end of
October weather permitting. Traffic detoured to CR 283, CR 668, SR 16 and East Main St.
MUSKINGUM COUNTY
Ongoing
SR 60: Just over a mile south of Duncan Falls, crews have removed rock and completed the installation of
steel mesh slope protection. Construction continues on a cellular retaining wall to ensure the safety of drivers
and prevent potential rock falls from entering into the roadway.
Detour: Northbound traffic via SR 60 to SR 78 in McConnelsville, to SR 284 in Bristol, to SR 146 in
Chandlersville, back to SR 60 in Zanesville, and reverse for southbound. NOTE: The road will remain closed
longer than anticipated, and will not re-open until early October, Weather Permitting. The road opened 10/8.
There is still some paving and guardrail work to be completed, but flaggers will be used to maintain 2-way
traffic.
Interstate 70: The eastbound State Route 93 access ramp to I-70 East remains closed.
Crews will continue to work on a mine grouting project on I-70 under the existing eastbound pavement and
shoulders. Access to the closed ramp will again be available in the near future, when all IR 70 traffic is shifted
to the eastbound pavement.
Detour: SR 93 to east US 22/40, to Airport Road, and then onto IR 70 eastbound.

PERRY COUNTY
September 29 *New
SR.668: Crews will be cutting brush from SR204 to the Somerset Village limits. The road will be closed from
7:00AM until 4:00PM October 8 thru October 9 and will again be closed during the same hours October 14,
thru October 16.
Ongoing
On 10/11 Crew will be working on resurfacing over 3 structures on SR37, SR13 and SR37 east of New
Lexington. One lane of traffic will be maintained using flaggers.
DISTRICT WIDE
Ongoing
Drivers can expect to see crews throughout the entire district marking pavement. The workers will work either
as a moving operation or close one lane of a four way highway as needed. Work will start in Muskingum
county and continue until May 2015 as part of a safety project to improve visibility of pavement markers to
drivers.
Various bridge repairs will continue this summer throughout Fairfield and Licking County. Workers are
currently resurfacing bridges and any lane closures will take place at night.
Guardrail repair will be taking place this summer and into April 2015. Crews may close lanes and use flaggers
to maintain traffic for short periods of time as needed.
Various traffic signal upgrades are being performed throughout the district. Workers are installing new poles,
cables, signal heads and up-to-date controller equipment.
Spot paving on various routes in various county – Contractor currently performing full depth repair as shown
below:
Coshocton county – SR 715 between the Knox county line and us 36.
Licking county - SR 13 in Utica
Knox county - October 13, 2014 the contractor will start the full depth repair on SR 229 between US 62 and
the Coshocton county line.
Guernsey county - SR 285 between IR 70 and SR 265
One lane of traffic will remain open and maintained with flaggers. Anticipated completion date is November
30, 2014.
