Aiming to keep the Westfield Community informed October 10, 2014
Dear Westfield Community,
Yesterday in all P.E. classes students’ participated in the Football for Heart Fundraiser. As a
school we raised over $6000 that will be donated to the American Heart Association! Below are raffle
winners of the Chicago Bear Player Ego Ferguson autographed items. These students were part of the
fundraising efforts and were recognized during morning announcements on Thursday morning. We would
like to thank all of the students who were part of the fundraising efforts, as well as, Mr. Gabriel, Ms.
Giffin, Mr. Buchholz and Mrs. Kasher for helping organize and facilitate this wonderful event.
Warriors of the Week
Each week several students are selected by their teachers to be the Warriors of the Week. A Warrior of the
Week is a student who is going above and beyond in showing strong character, both in and outside the
classroom. In order for a student to be considered, they must display acts that align with the pillars of good
character: Caring, Fairness, Citizenship, Respect, Trustworthiness, and Responsibility.
Congratulations goes to: Gia Capozzoli, Griffin Klapp, Chris DeConcilis, Olivia Turnam & Natalie
Woch!

A Helping Hand
We currently have a School District 13 family that recently lost everything to a house fire. If you are
interested in helping this family or would like to donate anything, please contact Mrs. Matt, Westfield's
Art teacher [email protected] for more information.
Safety – To and from school
Please take a moment to talk to your child about safety when they are walking to and from school or out
waiting for the bus. As we fast approach the late fall and winter months, the amount of daylight decreases
and pedestrians are harder to see crossing streets and such. Reflectors and lights on bicycles, brighter
clothing on pedestrians, and traveling in larger groups are encouraged. Please also reinforce with your child
that they should immediately report anything suspicious to you and/or to the school office as soon as they
arrive home or to school. We work closely with the Bloomingdale Police Department to insure that our
students are safe before, during, and after school.
