ABUNDANT GRACE
“For all things are for your sakes, that
the abundant grace might through the
thanksgiving of many redound to the
glory of God.” (2 Cor 4:15)
Siew Yan and I were worried
about the 16 hours overnight train
from Jiang Xi to Hubei. In fact we
sort of murmured against the young
girl who graciously helped us to
book the train tickets. We told her to
book the “soft bed” but she managed
only to book the middle and top most
bed space in the “hard bed” cabin.
However, the trip turned out to be
very pleasant. It was China’s golden
week, many people were not able to
get even a seat to sit, and some family and friends were separated in different cabins even though they
booked as early as a month ago,
while we only booked a few days
before the trip and yet both of us
were in the same cabin and same
row. The passengers at the lower bed
were very kind to let us sit on their
bed, they were also very friendly and
that made our 16 hours passed very
quickly, we reached our destination
with thanksgiving and praises to
God.
Day one at the elderly home was
relaxing but boring; we felt being
caged-in in a secluded and confined
compound. But it turned out to be an
eye-opener for both of us the next
day. We met a talented young lady
doctor who was seeking God’s direction for her ministry. We also met a
team of people from Hong Kong who
came over to see the possibility of
collaborating in elderly ministry as
well as to share the “back to Jerusalem mission” vision to the local
church leaders. We saw that God is at
work in different places and in the
heart of individual believer. No one
could restraint the God Almighty.
I was tired towards the end of the
trip and was not very motivated to do
a home visit in Henan. However,
Siew Yan was very keen to go to encourage the little boy who is suffering from 4th stage cancer and his
family. Seeing Siew Yan’s enthusiasm I was spurred on and went. The
family has given up treatment for the
boy and chose to live in a spiritual
retreat home, fasting and praying for
recovery. It was good to be there to
encourage them by our mere presence. The pastor’s wife and two
other members had a brief chat with
the boy, his mother and grandmother.
Together we prayed for the boy and
his family. We spent about an hour
there. What touched me most was the
readiness of the church leader and
members to go the extra mile to
show love, care and concern for this
family even though it meant taking
the entire day. And that was not the
first trip. We left for Henan at about
8.00am and returned to Xiang Yang
after 9.00 pm.
On the day before we left Xiang
Yang for Guangzhou, one of the
church members invited us, the
church pastor, some church members
and an unbeliever for lunch. It was
an intentional action on her part to
provide a platform for the pastor to
share with the unbeliever. A lesson
we can learn and apply. After lunch
this same member invited us to join
her to visit the Orphanage, where
they had a fellowship meeting with a
group of adult believing orphans. She
and other church members have been
visiting the orphanage for many
years and the people in-charge quietly allowed them to do the work.
My heart rejoices in the Lord to witness the willingness of the church to
tirelessly reach out to the weak and
lost in the society, and how God
worked in the heart of the people incharge in the Orphanage to make the
ministry possible.
Indeed, though we have no specific plan but God has planned a series of activities to enable us to experience his grace and mercy and
doings in this “middle country”, we
can’t help but to give thanks and
honour to God, for all glory belong
to him. “For all things are for your
sakes, that the abundant grace might
through the thanksgiving of many
redound to the glory of God.” 2 Cor
4:15.

The International Monument to the reformation,
usually known as the Reformation Wall, is a monument in Geneva, Switzerland. It honours many of
the main individuals,
events, and documents of
the Protestant Reformation.
At the centre of this long wall
stands the 4 statues of Calvinism’s main proponents, as Geneva was the centre of Calvinism.
At the left, stands:
 William Farel (1489-1565)
 John Calvin (1509-1564)
 Theodore Beze (1519-1605)
 John Knox (c.1513-1572)
Below the statues is a Christogram.

Rev Alex Nasong’o
Wugu?
He met me in Facebook (FB)
recently. He has been doing quite
well in his ministry. Praise the
Lord! We rejoice with him for what
the Lord has been doing in his life
and ministry. He is now a lecturer
at the Centre for Theological Studies (CTS). This is a good theological school to train local pastors. I
His new church building in Webuye
know CTS. I have fellow DMin students who are teaching in CTS in
India.
Grace church supported his
work in Kenya in 1994 when he
graduated from the Far Eastern
Bible College (FEBC). In 1999 he
was ordained a Bishop of the
Christian Brotherhood Church in
Western Region (Kenya). We supported him until 2002. We have
not been in contact since, but
thank God for FB. I see lots of
photos in his page and am really
happy for this brother and his
family as I see God’s blessings
upon his work. I am sure you can
find him in FB too. He wrote me in
FB:
“Slowly but surely God is answering
the prayers we have been praying for
so many years. We have a beautiful
church building, installed power, and
we now have running water. Our home
-cum-school for disadvantaged kids has
continued well thus far. Twenty kids
are doing national high school entry
exam this year. They will do very well.
Like before we have continued with
farming for our self sustenance. We
also bake bread for our consummation
and sale. Greet all Gracians. How I
miss them all”

Devotion For Kids
What are you doing when you
“spill the beans”?
He knows the secrets of every heart. Psalm 44:21
When people are supposed to keep a secret but they forget
and tell it anyway, they might say, “Ooops! I just spilled the
beans!” What makes them say that? Long ago, the ancient
Greeks had many secret clubs and organizations. When
someone wanted to join, they were voted on by all of the
members. Each member would walk by a container and drop
in a white bean for a yes vote or a black bean for a no vote.
Only the important officers of the club were supposed to
know how many black beans there were. But once in a while
someone would bump the container by mistake. Then the secret was known by everyone as the container tipped over and
“spilled the beans.”
Because God created us, he knows everything about us.
When the Bible says that “he knows the secrets of every
heart” (Psalm 44:21), it reminds us that God doesn’t need to
count beans before he can understand or discover something
new about us. He has seen us inside and out since before we
were born. That is why you can ask him for his help at any
time. He already knows about your secrets, and when you invite him to come in to your life, he can help you deal with
whatever problems you’re trying to hide. He wants you to be
free from your burdens, so give them to him and trust that he
will solve them in a way that will turn out to be the best for
you.
