Enjoy a tour through the gardens to discover the beauty of the Arboretum
and ASL stories, poetry and/or jokes. Interpreters and Deaf Community will
collaborate in providing information and skill development to enhance
receptive and voicing skills.
Course Description
Current interpreters and interpreter students will have an opportunity to voice
and sign in real time in a safe environment. As the Deaf Community tells ASL
stories throughout the park, there will be opportunities for both expressive and
receptive skill development practice. They will have a variety of situations to
choose from, as performances will include poetry, jokes and story telling.
Hearing participants will be offered the opportunity to share their stories,
which will be interpreted in ASL. As a group, the participants will discuss their
experience. The facilitator will guide the discussion as needed.
