Many years ago, my feelings to join the Senior
Activity Center caused several emotional ups/downs
on how I would fit in towards an aging population. I
was young (64) at the time. As I eased my way into
the doors, the friendliness and acceptance really got
me excited to volunteer in the physical fitness area
as a person to help others, to start something new in
life and to emphasize the importance of exercise and
benefits at any age. Within the last few years, I
segued to running the Whist and Cribbage activities
with a team of several other volunteers and once
again the new friendships and camaraderie
continues to grow. It has been a truly and rewarding
experience teaching me that we all are a special
group of people with the fortitude to face the many
challenges in life.
Volunteering is a beautiful and rewarding means to
improve ones’ own well being.
