ABOUT THE VENUE
PLACES OF VISIT AROUND VENUE
The 28th National Conference on Agricultural Marketing of Indian Society of
Agricultural Marketing will be held under the auspices of Sardar Patel
University (SPU), Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand, Gujarat on 4th, 5th and 6th
December, 2014.
Vallabh Vidyanagar (Anand) is an educational township located 5 km away
from the Anand city, which is popularly known as milk city of India, located
35 km North of Vadodara and 75 km South of Ahmedabad. It is located on
NH-8 and well connected with express highway connecting Ahmedabad &
Vadodara. Ahmedabad and Vadodara airports are well connected with
National and International flights. Train services from different cities and
states are also connected with Anand.
Akashar Dham, Gujarat Secretariat, Ajawa Nemata at Vadodara, Dakor-the
lord Krishna pilgrimage, the Iron man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's
Birh place and Museum at Karamsad are some of the adjoining tourist places
located nearby Vallabh Vidyanagar (Anand). AMUIL, NDDB, AAU, IRMA
are the world renowned institutes located in Anand. Tourist places such as
Somnath and Dwarka are about 400-450 kms away from VVN.
Dr. P. K. Joshi, Director-South Asia, International Food Policy Research
Institute (IFPRI), South Asia Regional Office, NASC Complex, Pusa, New
Delhi 110 012 has kindly consented to deliver the Presidential Address at the
Conference. The conference will discuss the following three themes:
Theme (I) Interface of organized retailing and state agricultural marketing
acts
Theme (II) Role of women in agricultural marketing
Theme (III) Agribusiness initiatives in Gujarat State
THE SOCIETY
The Indian Society of Agricultural Marketing was established during 1986.
The main objectives of the Society are to a) promote the study of social and
economic problems and to provide technical competence to the personnel
engaged in agricultural marketing in the country; b) conduct research studies
independently or jointly with other allied organisations on the problems of
time and need in the field of agricultural marketing and publish the findings;
c)conduct periodic seminars/conferences/workshops/study tours to cover
various aspects of agricultural marketing, d) undertake any developmental
activities in the field of agricultural marketing in the country.
ABOUT AGRO-ECONOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE
Agro-Economic Research Centre (AERC), Vallabh Vidyanagar (VVN) for
the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan was established in July 1961 at the Sardar
Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar by the Directorate of Economics and
Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. AERC has been
working as an associate institution of SPU and enjoying autonomy status in its
working. The Centre has completed 53 glorious years of its journey marked
by both achievements and challenges. During these years, the Centre has
emerged as a strong policy feedback centre of the Ministry of Agriculture,
Govt of India due to hard work and strong commitment of the staff in the
Centre. The Centre has by now completed 152 problem-oriented studies, 21
village surveys and 4 village resurveys. Since 1970, the Centre has been also
organizing the work of Comprehensive Scheme to Study Cost of Cultivation
of Principal Crops in Gujarat entrusted to the S. P. University by the Ministry
of Agriculture, Government of India. Ever since its inception, the Centre has
been working in close collaboration with the PG Department of Economics of
our University and so far it has helped/supported about 35 scholars to
successfully complete their Ph. D. work in agricultural economics.
WEATHER CONDITION
DELEGATES REGISTRATION
All the participants of the Conference and their accompanying members
should be the registered delegates. Only the registered delegates are entitled
to get the lodging (Non AC- sharing basis), boarding (Veg. food) and other
facilities on the first come first serve basis. The participants are requested to
register for the Conference on or before November 30, 2014 by paying
Registration fee in the form of Demand Draft/pay order / multicity cheques, in
favour of 'Agro-Economic Research Centre', payable at Vallabh
Vidyanagar or Anand, Gujarat. Registered members will be provided with
background material of Conference and accommodation.
The weather during the month of December 2014 will be pleasant with day
temperature around 260C and night temperature would be around 100C.
PRESENTATIONS OF PAPERS
Paper presented at the conference will only be considered for publication in
the conference issue of Indian Journal of Agricultural Marketing either in
full or summary form as recommended by the Chairmen of the respective
Technical Sessions. Projection (PPT) facilities will be made available at the
conference venue.

Accommodation for the participants will be arranged on twin basis in
University Guest House and other places available in the campus (Non AC
room). Availability of on campus accommodation is limited and so
participants are requested to inform in advance. Those who wish to stay in
hotels located nearby venue (on separate payment), write to us well in
advance. Only vegetarian food would be served at the Conference venue.
Please note that consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited in the State of
Gujarat.
