Corvettes in Paradise has finally come and gone and it was a success after all. So, it’s now time
to start making plans for the 39th Annual Corvettes in Paradise on Saturday, September 5th,
2015. Wait, what? Too soon? Well, Okay, next year’s Board can deal with that. In that case,
then it’s time to start canvassing the membership for potential candidates for next year’s board.
Hey! Where’d everybody go?!? These jobs aren’t all that difficult. I’ve survived two years as
President and all I’ve lost is my hair. Please, really consider running for the board for next year.
October is here!! We’ve got a couple small events scheduled in addition to our regularly scheduled meetings. First up is BUNKO and POT LUCK at the Shewell’s. This Saturday, the 4 th of

we all want to participate in, first is the Veteran’s Day Parade in Wahiawa, then in December is
the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade, the crowd gets larger each year and then at the end of January, beginning of February is the Night in China Town Parade. This is the only time you’ll be
able to drive down Hotel Street, LEGALLY!! Awesome!! Then we’ve got the End of the Year

GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
September 2, 2014
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chris Morris, President; Ron Kennedy, Vice-President; Pam Shewell,
Treasurer; Dennis Shewell, Editor; and Jaymie Lewis, Master-at-Arms.
BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Chelsea Wimmer, Secretary; and Bryan Wimmer, Membership.
CALL TO ORDER: Jaymie called the meeting to order at 7:31 pm at Zippy’s - Vineyard.
MINUTES: Minutes of the August 5, 2014 meeting were reviewed. Ron motioned to accept; seconded by Jaymie.
MOTION CARRIED.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Pam presented the monthly Treasurer’s Report. She reported that there had been
an error in the August report & she presented a corrected for period from 6/25/14 to 8/26/14.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Chris reported that we have 75 Regular, 3 Associate, 8 Lifetime, and 1 Honorary for
a total of 87. Chris presented new member applications for approval:
Janine Bonderenko, Ron & Gracelyn Musa & Mark & Sherry Harysch were present and briefly introduced
themselves & gave specifics on their vehicles.
Dennis Freitas motioned to accept all new applicants to the club; Jamie Lewis seconded the motion.
MOTION CARRIED.
Danny & Shelly Antoque and Raymond Burke II, new members voted into the club in August, were present
and also introduced themselves & gave specifics on their vehicles.
With these new applications, the membership is now 82 regular, 3 Associate, 8 Lifetime, and 1 Honorary for a
total of 94.

Lee Munson agreed to host a Christmas Light Cruise – date selected was 12/13/14. If anyone knows of any
communities that enjoy “lighting up” to let him know so he can plan a nice cruise.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dennis Freitas announced that he was organizing an “island cruisers” every 4 th Sunday of the month. The
cruise is open to all regardless of the type of car they drive. Meeting place is Toys R Us at 9am. If interested, please
contact Dennis so he can add you to the roster.
RAFFLE:
A raffle was held with donated items as prizes and $79 was raised.
ADJOURNMENT:
Ron motioned to adjourn the meeting; Jaymie seconded. MOTION CARRIED. Meeting adjourned at 8:18pm.

Join us in providing a happy event for the sick children at Shriners Hospital. We want to make this a significant and
awesome experience for the children. Bring treats for the children (see the list below for restriction) and dress up in a
costume or not. The children will vote for their favorite costume. Bring your Vette and show it off to the kids.
Recommended treats: fresh fruits, raisins, cookies, chips, juice. Due to the nature of this event, we are under the
following
restrictions: Closed shoes are recommended for safety. PLEASE NO SCARY COSTUMES!
TOY RESTRICTIONS for patient safety: No rubber balloons, marbles, used stuffed animals, sharp toys, glass or
wooden items and small toys that can be swallowed.
FOOD RESTRICTIONS - No homemade foods. All treats must be store bought and in its original packaging. No
Lolli-pops, nuts, gum, and hard candies (i.e., candy canes, jolly rancher, etc.). No food with nuts.
GROUP MEMBERS:
Must be 12 years of age or older.
Must have already had the chicken pox or have been vaccinated.
Must be free of colds or infections during the visit.
Visitors must be group members only. Unsupervised children are not permitted.
Photographs of children will not be permitted.
Tentative Schedule: 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm
Location: Shriners Hospital for Children, 1310 Punahou Street, Honolulu
After the event we will cruise down and get some lunch. Location to be determined by participants.

Recommended Changes to the CCOH By-Laws
(Changes are in Red)
Article IV
Section 1 Board of Directors
Election: The voting membership shall elect seven members from the membership
to serve as the Board of Directors. They shall consist of President, Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer, Master-at-Arms, Editor and Membership Officer. The length of
term shall be one year.
Section 2 Nominations Committee
The appointment of a nominations committee, consisting of three voting members
and two members of the Board of Directors shall be made by the President two
months prior to the general election. The purpose of the committee is to solicit
those members demonstrating exceptional interest in the purpose and wellbeing of the Club.
Section 3 Resignations
Any Director may resign his/her office at any time by giving written notice of such
resignation to the Board of Directors.
Section 4 Vacancies
In the event that any of the Board of Directors shall resign or become unable to
hold office before the end of the elected term, the remaining members of the Board
of Directors shall appoint a member to fill the vacancy until the next election.
Section 5 Incentive Award for Participating on the Board
Board of Director Members that successfully serve one year on the Board of Directors will be eligible for a free membership the following year provided they have completed all of the following requirements:
Attend and participate in at least 9 (75%) of the Board of Director’s meetings during the calendar year.
Attend and participate in at least 9 (75%)of the General Membership meetings
during the calendar year.
Attend and participate in at least 50% of all of other Club events during the calendar year that they were members
of the Board.
Must successfully complete all duties of the position held. Refer to Article V.
Eligibility will be determined by the Board of Directors at the December Board Meeting.
Amendment will go into effect for the 2015 Board of Directors and free membership will be awarded for calendar year 2016.

Section 6 Ineligible Members
Club members that are also joint members in any other organized Car Club on Oahu are ineligible to run for any position
the Board of Directors. This rule may be waived by the majority of the members present at a General Membership
meeting.
Persons joining the Club that have tentatively tendered their resignation either
voluntarily or involuntarily from an organized Car Club on Oahu will not be
eligible to run for the Board of Directors for a minimum of two years after joining the Club.
Members that resign from an organized Car Club on Oahu while also being
members of CCOH will have to wait a minimum of two years before being eligible to run for the Board of Directors. In
order to be eligible a copy of a letter of resignation addressed to the respective Car Club shall be submitted to the CCOH
Club Secretary and held on record until such time the two years has expired.
If approved by the General Membership at the December 2nd General Membership Meeting these changes will go into effect on
1 January 2015.

Mid-Engine Corvette ZR1 To Bow In 2017, Cost $150k: Report
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 logo
Work has commenced on the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette, the C8, and word on the street is that the car
will ride on
a new mid-engine platform under development at General Motors Company [NYSE:GM]. While the C8 isn’t due until the end of the
decade,
a car riding on its platform may appear much sooner than that.
No, we’re not talking about the new sports car
recently hinted at by Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen, although it is a distinct
possibility Cadillac may eventually launch a car based on the new mid-engine platform. No, we’re talking about a new generation of the
Corvette ZR1, which Car and Driver reports may be launched as early as the 2017 model year and sport a price tag of around $150,000.
This means that while it’s technically a C8, the new ZR1 will be sold alongside the current C7 Corvette for its first years on the market.
Eventually, the C7 Corvette will be replaced by the new C8 Corvette, with all the variants being based on the mid-engine platform.
Yes, even the base ‘Vette.
The reason for the platform’s quick gestation is because GM reportedly started working on a mid-engine Corvette prior to its bankruptcy
in 2009, and current Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter is said to be one of the key people involved in the original project. We also
hear that the basis for the new platform will be the C7 Corvette’s aluminum spaceframe structure rather than a completely all-new design.
But why rock the boat with such a dramatic change to the Corvette formula? Apparently the front engine, rear-wheel-drive layout is
reaching its limits in cars
like the 2015 Corvette Z06. Also, the Alpha-based 2016 Camaro may end up lighter than the C7 Corvette,
giving it the performance edge over its bigger brother. Thus, to help separate future Corvettes from the Camaro, including the next ZR1,
a more exotic design will be required. This change will also help the C8 Corvette become a semi-exotic halo model for Chevrolet worldwide,
a bit like the NSX for Acura/Honda and the R8 for Audi.
A small-block V-8 will remain the powertrain of choice for the new ZR1—it’s an exotic but not that kind of exotic—and there’s a strong
possibility it will come with a single transmission: a seven-speed dual-clutch. By the time regular C8 Corvettes arrive, however, a manual
transmission should also be available. We could also see thenew ZR1 adopt hybrid technology to ensure it can keep up in the technology
stakes against its German and Japanese rivals.
Finally, the Zora name should feature in the new ZR1’s full title. The usage would serve as a tribute to Corvette father Zora Arkus-Duntov,
a huge fan of the mid-engine layout, and we know GM recently trademarked it.

Radford High School Home Coming Parade
18 September 2014
I have been doing the Radford HS Home Coming Parade for over 20 years and this year
had to have been the most disorganized that I have ever seen.
They started the parade and realized that they didn’t have the Home Coming Court. We
were all still sitting in the parking lot waiting for someone to tell us to pull out. It turns
out that rather than being in the front of the parade we were in the rear.
Compounding matters was the fact that we were one car short. The Sophomores and
Freshman Court members had to ride on one car.
The parade route was through Foster Village subdivision. It was a slow moving parade
because of the hills but nothing that was unexpected.

Unlike Radford HS this parade was very well organized and probably three
times the size. We started in the parking lot for Mililani Town Center and
drove through the surrounding neighbor hoods with our passengers.
The major problem was the “HEAT”. It was hot! By the time we had driven a
block I was ready to pull over into the shade. . There were no trades to boot!
Despite the heat there were plenty of on-lookers and people cheering us on.
We all had a good time.
Participating were: Dennis Shewell, John Moore, Ken Nakamura, Chris Morris, Jeff Cadavona, Raymond Burke III, Yvonne Lewis, Mike Mastronardi,
and John Saporito.

Cruise with John and Sue, 21 September 2014.
Well I think everyone had a good time at the Cruise. That is, except for the people without air conditioning. It was an extremely
hot day. Let’s put it this way, everyone appeared to be happy when they reached our final stop, Mike’s Huli Huli Chicken in
Kaneohe.
Unfortunately my ’72 had a little hiccup on the way to Toys R Us. The fuel pump decided to “give up the ghost” after 43 years.
I ended up in the entrance to the Stadium waiting for a tow truck, with John, for a couple of hours. Our saving grace was Chris
who went down to Sears to pick up a hacksaw so that we could cut a muffler clamp bolt off so the tow truck driver could install
the dollies. Long story!
I think the departure from Toys R Us was delayed about a half and hour. Sue road with Pam in her Vette. The first stop on the
trip was Dole Plantation. Where almost everyone got a Dole Whip. By the time they hit Laie John and I were back home and
the tow truck driver backed the ’72 right onto my lift in the garage. He almost made it look easy. John and I cleaned up and
headed for Mike’s.
A command decision was made and the “Cruisers” decided to stop at Kahana Bay for a few minutes to try and get cool and take
care of any addition fluids that they may have consumed on the drive.
No one really knew where Mike’s Huli Huli Chicken was so Dennis Freitas in his CTS led the group from Kahana Bay. They
arrived at Mike’s at approximately 2:30 pm. The food at Mike’s was excellent! Bar-b-cued chicken, Char Sui, Kalua Pig, etc. We
ended up talking story for over an hour after we ate. We had a good time!
A big “Mahalo” to Chris for taking over my place as the lead car. He did and excellent job! As for Dennis Freitas, it looked like
10 Corvettes running a Caddy out of town.
