ACCESSORIES
• Automatic condensate drain – internal float type to be incorporated in the coalescer type filter:
- AD14 is recommended for draining 1/4” ÷ 1” filter housing sizes.
- AD28 is recommended for draining ≥ 1” and larger filter housing sizes.
- ETHADRAINtrim: a highly reliable solenoid valve is connected to an electronical timed cycle to offer a simple low cost but reliable solution. According to site conditions, a purge period is set by the Operator whilst a second set is controlling the evacuation time. A test push
button is provided to check proper operation from time to time.
• Differential pressure equipment:
- DLS: clogging indicator. This is a simple instrument thanks to the green or red bell indicating the operator to check for element replacement.
- DPS6: it is a most exhaustive accessory and is designed for monitoring through a progressive reference scale the DP across the element.
The operator can then programme filter element maintenance with larger anticipation.
- DPS6E: This is the advanced model of the DPS6 and is fitted with a N.O. or N.C. contact for remote transmission of an alarm signal.

FILTER IN ALUMINIUM
• outer drainage sock made of synthetic needle felt is fitted as standard all over the range (available instead
at price adder by Competitor’s design). It is resistant up to 120 °C but, above all, does not lacerate as often
happening with reticular foam, thus loosing soon coalescing efficiency.
• endcaps made of synthetic material resistant up to 120 °C, ensuring absolutely corrosion free solution
(unlike aluminium heads)
• compatible with all synthetic oils
• 12 months guarantee under normal recommended use.
• simply “push-on” place feature facilitating replacing filtering elements above all in limited space “STARPLUG” connection arrangement offers dual advantage: it first facilitates the filter integration in the most confined space whilst making filter element replacement quick and easy by reducing service clearence.
Second is the absence of tie-rod, therefore for contributing in precious gain for the flow path through the
endcap collar.

VARIOUS GRADES of FILTRATION
CONDENSATE SEPARATORS grade WS
A special internal filtering device has been specifically conceived to separate heavy condensate traces from compressed air. Unlike “centrifugal” separators which are highly efficient only when operated at a full load, the WS range guarantees removal of condensate even when operating at a reduced capacity. The condensate flows down the corrugated baflles down to the bottom of the filter where it is collected and then discharged through to a
drainage port. These separators are the ideal solution for applications with a high water content such as on outlets of storage tanks or on refrigerated
air dryers.
PRE-FILTER - SEPARATOR grade VF25
The 25 µm. nominal efficiency of these filters make them the perfect solution for installation on the inlets of refrigerated dryers with the scope of maintaining their heat exchangers surfaces clean, thus ensuring longevity and trouble free performance.
PRE-FILTER grade FF5
This is a multippurpose filter with a 5 µm. nominal grade and the perfect solution for effectively removing bulk oil which contains burnt-by products
such as laquers. We recommend this filter for installation on compressors which operate at very high temperatures such as reciprocating type compressors.
This 5 µm. pre-filter is also recommended to be used to protect high efficiency coalescers.
MICROFILTER grade MFO
This is a depth filter with a fibre media having an average pore size of ≤ 0.6 µm. and is designed to remove very small solid particles as well as reducing oil mist content to ≤ 0.1 mg/m3 by coalescence. These filters are typically used downstream of refrigerated dryers and/or preceeding a superior grade
SMA.
nominal flow rates are referred to a main line (v = 6÷9 m/s) in order to guarantee a low ∆P
maximum flow rates are referred to branch lines (v = 12÷15 m/s) where a higher ∆P is admitted
the maximum pressure for the housings is 16 bar; if the filter is equipped with the internal float drain, this limits the usage to 12 bar
manufactured according to the European Directive CE 97/23 – PED, where applicable
flow rates are referred to 7 bar (g) and +20 °C. In case of different parameters, please refer to the here below correction factors
VF25, FF5, MFO and SMA filter are supplied with internal float drain. WS, CA and RD filters are supplied with manual drain cock. All the filters are supplied without differential pressure indicator, which can be bought as an optional (except for CA grade, for which is not possible to mount any DPS)
Æ CA filters cannot operate under oil saturation and the elements must be replaced every 6 months. They are not suitable for removing poisonous gaseous contaminants
such as CO and CO2. Please consult Ethafilter for specific requirements.
SPECIFICATION (at ISO 8573.1)
DUST FILTERS
WS
Flow direction
ACTIVATED CARBON grade CA
This filter consists of a composite layer of activated dust free carbon charcoal. This specific filter is designed to absorb oil vapour traces down to ≤ 0.005
mg/m3 as well as reducing smell and odours normally associated with mineral and synthetic oils.
DUST FILTERS grade RD
For applications which require the removal of dust and particles, ETHAFILTER offers a range of dust filters. These filters are typically installed downstream adsorption dryers. This range of filters is available within the following various ratings:
RD25: removal rating up to 25 µ
RD1: removal rating up to 1 µ
RD5: removal rating up to 5 µ
RDA: removal rating up to 0.01 µ

SUBMICROFILTER grade SMA
This depth filter is designed to trap even smaller particles removing sub-micronic particulate having a size of ≤ 0.01 µm and via coalescing atomised
oil down to ≤ 0.01 mg/m3 with a 99.9999% efficiency. These filter elements are tested for their integrity (random sample or individually upon request)
to ensure they are not damage or faulty prior to delivery. Being a very selective filter we recommend it is installed whislt protected upward by an MFO
grade filter (typically).
