Baltic Welcomes
New Staff Members
The new school year has begun with new staff in classrooms throughout the school. The departure
of Ross Rollinger, Lindsey Palmer, Pete Egstad and the retirement from teaching of Mr. Gunderson as
well as increased elementary enrollment has opened the door for five new teachers at Baltic this year.
Each new teacher was asked to respond to a few questions to reveal their background before coming to
Baltic.
Maggie Moeller, First Grade.
Born/grew up in: Sioux F alls, SD
High School graduated from: Lincoln High School
Post high school institution(s) and/or activities: USD
Previous teaching or employment: Kindergarten teacher at Hanson
Elementary in Alexandria, SD
Where do you currently live: Sioux F alls, SD
Family – I have 5 people in my family. My mom Susan, my dad
Scott, my sister Jennifer, and my brother Sam. And me J I also have
a
Chihuahua named Peaches and a cat named Steven.
Hobbies or other activities: Camping, fishing, canoeing, music
concerts, reading and watching movies.
Likes: I love cooking, watching baseball, and going on trips as of- Ms. Moeller brings her own ten
webcam to class to expand
as I can
her students’ experiences
Jillian Daane, Third Grade
Born/grew up in: Sioux City, Iowa
High School graduated from Sioux City East High School
Post high school institution(s) and/or activities University of South Dakota
Previous teaching or employment- First year teaching
Where do you currently live- Sioux Falls
Family – I come from a big family and I am marrying into an even bigger
one! I have an older brother who is in medical school and a younger sister
who goes to USD. My parents are currently living in Sioux City.
Likes – I enjoy being with family and friends.

teaching career at Baltic
Elementary.
Alan Baskerville, MS Social Studies
Born/grew up in: F onda, Iowa
High School graduated from: Newell-Fonda
Post high school institution(s) and/or activities:
NIACC - Associate Arts Degree. College Baseball
South Dakota State University - B.S. Sociology and Teaching certification.
Previous teaching or employment:
Worked 1 year as a counselor at McCrossan Boys Ranch
Spent 2 years at Newell-Fonda CSD teaching Middle School Social
Studies and Coached High School Football and track.

Family – My wife Paige and I just recently moved back to South Da- face another day full of

Storm Lake Iowa where she worked for the Chamber of Commerce there and I was able to teach at my
former school. We currently live in Sioux Falls were she is working as a Public Relations Specialist for
Avera.
Hobbies or other activities: I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching athletics, and going to
different activities around the area.
Likes – Family, friends, Husker football, movies, Mexican food, Southern Sweet Tea, and coffee.
Mr Baskerville is currently JH Volleyball coach and will coach JH Girls
Basketball and JH Track
Dan Hoch, HS Social Studies
Born/grew up in: Harlan, IA
High School graduated from: Harlan, IA
Post high school institution(s) and/or activities: University of Missouri
Previous teaching or employment: Harlan, IA 2 years
Where do you currently live: Sioux Falls
Family – Wife- Megan Christopher-Hoch, USF Softball coach
Hobbies or other activities: Fishing, Video Games, and Bike Riding

Mr. Hoch is adding his football knowledge and experience to the coaching
staff this year, serving as a volunteer football coach.
Lee Irvine, K-12 PE
Born/grew up in: Lander, Wyoming

Previous teaching or employment: Chester Area School District
Where do you currently live Sioux Falls, SD
Family – 5 year old son named Tavin
Hobbies or other activities: Water-sports, Basketball, Football, Bike
Riding, and Swimming
Likes – F ettuccini Alfredo, Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies
Mr. Irvine joins the Baltic coaching staff as assistant boys basketball
coach and head golf coach.
