Our new class on Water Supply and Distribuon out of the 2012 Internaonal Residenal Code will provide the a&endee informaon on the most current code addion available. It will cover general provisions of the code as well as informaon on protecon of potable water systems, types of water supply systems, fire sprinkler systems, materials, joints, and connecons, change of
direcon fi.ngs, support of piping, and drinking water treatment units.

Solar Energy: Benefits & Installaon Methods (4 credit hours) 8:00am—Noon
Solar energy is becoming more and more popular. This course describes why and provides an introducon to solar energy for the
construcon and code enforcement community. Topics covered include site evaluaon, inter-connecon methods with the grid,
system design and producon esmates, and solar installaon methods.

2012 IRC Wall Bracing & General Wood Framing (4 credit hours) 8:00am—Noon
This class covers various prescripve methods of wall bracing in the IRC. When wind bracing falls outside the scope of the prescripve code requirements, an engineered soluon is required. Those soluons, including portal frame, perforated shear wall,
steel moment frame, pre-manufactured shear wall systems and roof/ceiling diaphragms will be explored. General wood framing
topics and common field errors will be discussed.

Trenching/Excavaon - Managing a Safe Worksite (2 credit hours) 1:00—3:00pm
This class will instruct parcipants on the proper way to dig and work in trenches and excavaons. It will also include the OSHA
requirements for this work. Learn what is really important about working in these areas. The class will cover fatalies in trenches
and excavaons. Parcipants will learn why it is important to manage your worksite in a safe manner.

IRC Electrical Overview (2 credit hours) 1:00—3:00pm
This two hour seminar presentaon of the IRC code is designed to be an overview of the electrical porons of the code. The main
focus is to provide the student with a summary of what the IRC Electrical posion consists of: general requirements, definions,
services, branch circuits and feeder requirements, wiring methods, power and lighng distribuons, devices and luminaires, appliance installaon, swimming pools and class 2 remote-control, signaling and power limit circuits.

Mechanical Provisions of the 2012 IRC (4 credit hours) 1:00—5:00pm
This class on the Mechanical provisions of the 2012 Internaonal Residenal Code will update the a&endee to the most current code
dealing with dwelling units. Not only will this class cover the Mechanical provision but will also deal with the poron of the code
covering energy efficiency and how it relates to the Mechanical industry.

Troubleshoong Concrete Problems (2 credit hours) 1:00—3:00pm
Concrete is the only building material that is cast and placed on the jobsite. By its nature, there can be several inherent characteriscs of the material that can impact the service life or appearance of the finished product. These generally are surface defects including cracking, spalling, mortar flaking, aggregate popouts, blisters and other delaminaons. We will examine the pracces that
will minimize these defects. We will also discuss how we evaluate and maintain these areas as it relates to service life and aesthec
appeal.

From your first contact with your customer to the last payment or claim on the project, the law has something to say about your
rights and dues. Come and hear praconer and KU Law Professor Chris Burger speak on topics that could affect your business,
such as contract formaon, tort and statutory intervenons into contracts, residenal and commercial disncons, one year warranty issues, bidding and award consideraons, designer issues, performance and design specificaons, esmates and allowances,
technical compliance issues, changes, site condions, payment, bonds, mechanic's liens, insurance coverage and issues of "green"
design and construcon.

Conductor Ampacity (2 credit hours) 3:00—5:00pm
The seminar is relevant to the changes that occurred within Art 310.15, Ampacies for conductors Rated 0-2--- volts. The seminar
will inform the student of the various changes that were made during the 2011 code cycle. The seminar will highlight the various
word/sentences changes, but its main focus will be how the new Arcle 310.15 has rearranged the previous tables of the 2008 and
has assigned new table locaons. Tables 310.15(B) and 310.15(B)(2)(c) will be discussed in depth. Exercises will be performed by
the student to assist in illustrang the effects of the table upon the ampacity of a conductor. All tables with 310.15 will be discussed.

Hot/Cold Weather Concrete (2 credit hours) 3:00—5:00pm
Weather can adversely affect the properes and the serviceability of concrete. The key to successful placement of concrete in hot
or cold weather condions is planning. Knowing the locally available materials as well as what to expect out of the weather on the
day you plan to place concrete is half the ba&le. Learn how to handle changing condions to save you money and promote your
business.
