singing! Characters include the King, the evil Queen, the Magic Mirror, Snow White, Dame Victoria (Snow’s
nurse), the Pest Control Officer, Nifty & Shifty (disreputable salesmen), the Huntsman, three princes, horses,

Coming Spring 2015 – The Sorcerer
Lead roles for our Spring 2015 show, Gilbert and Sullivan’s, “The Sorcerer,” have been cast. However, we
would welcome former, current and future chorus members. The show will run from April 24 through May 2,
2015, with rehearsals beginning in January on Sunday afternoons from 2 - 4:30 and Tuesday evenings from
7:30-10.
Alexis, son of Sir Marmaduke Pointdextre, has lectured in many venues that true love should break down all
artificial barriers, such as rank, wealth, beauty, and age, but the response of his listeners is a great
disappointment. Despite the misgivings of his betrothed Aline, Alexis engages the great John Wellington
Wells, from an old-established firm of family sorcerers, to work magic and bring the ideal of true love to
reality. Topsy-turvydom ensues when Alexis extends his scheme to the entire village!
Our “Sorcerer” involves a wedding party and a traveling circus so it won’t be like any “Sorcerer” you have
seen or performed in before. Stage direction will be by Ryan Goulden with music direction by Helene Furlong.
To express interest in joining the chorus, please contact John Trexler at [email protected] or
(484)319-2350.

DakhaBrakha
Friday, November 14, 2014 - 8 PM
$22; members $18
"Jonathan Poneman, a co-founder of Sub Pop Records about DakhaBrakha's show at
OFF Festival. "DakhaBrakha were so thrilling, so spellbinding, and so utterly moving, it
was an event unto itself," Poneman said later. "There was OFF, and then there was
DakhaBrakha. They were enchanting and unlike anything that I've ever seen before." He
called it "the performance of the festival" and bemoaned that DakhaBrakha was "not on
the Sub Pop roster... yet."
Purling Hiss
December 06, 2014 8:30 PM
We love loud guitars in Arden, and on December 6, Philly's premier psychedelic garage
rockers Purling Hiss will shake the old barn's rafters with their own brand of weird lo-fi
pop.
Thunderhank and St. James and the Apostles open the night. If you like old school
Dinosaur Jr., you'll love this band! They have a new album "Weirdon" out 9/23 on Drag
City Records, and the teaser sounds fantastic. Last year's "Water on Mars" made my Best
Of list for 2013.
The Spring Standards - Boxing Day!
December 26, 2014 8:00 PM
After 2 years of double shows we are going back to one show at 8 PM. This means it will
sell out fast! With a Live CD and DVD from their 2012 show, The Spring Standards are
now part of the fabric of Arden Concert Gild! Tim Meren, a terrific young songwriter

SCHOLARS GILD
Tuesday, November 18 at 7:30 PM
Delaware, the Water State
Dr. Jerry Kauffman, Director of the University of Delaware’s Water Resources Agency, will
lead the November Scholars Gild discussion of “Delaware, the Water State.” As the lowest
state in the Union and one of just three states on a peninsula, Delaware is surrounded by
water. The State’s watersheds and waterways contribute $2 to $6 billion in revenue to the
state’s economy annually, and directly and indirectly are associated with upwards of 70,000
jobs in the state via tourism, agriculture, industrial, recreation, and water supply sectors.
Our discussion will focus on the status and future direction of water policy in Delaware and how policies can
impact the supply of clean and plentiful water, which is so important to Delaware's economy. All are
welcomed to join in this discussion on Tuesday, November 18, at 7:30 PM in the Lower Gild Hall.
For more information on this and future topics, please visit the Scholars Gild blog on the ArdenClub.org
website. If you wish to receive future announcements of Scholars Gild discussions directly, send an e-mail to
[email protected] with the “Please Add Me” in the subject line. Include your name in the body
of the e-mail.
