 2014 Grapple at the Garden Youth Wrestling Championships Who: Weights: Any wrestler in grades 3-­‐5 (Elementary School Division) and grades 6-­‐8 (Middle School Division) who has a current USA Wrestling Membership Card. MS: 77 (minimum 65 lbs.), 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190, 210, 265 (minimum 211) GS: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 120, 130, 140, 140+ (25 lbs. maximum difference) When: • Saturday, December 14 at the College of Mount St. Vincent, 6301 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY 10471 • Wrestling will begin at 9:00 AM sharp for both divisions. Middle School in the main gym and Elementary School in the Auxiliary gym. • Line Bracketing with wrestle backs to 4 places. • All registration is on line. Registration will close on Saturday, December 13 at noon, or when 400 entries sign up. • Weigh-­‐ins the evening before the qualifier from 6PM-­‐8PM at the College. There will be a weigh in for 30 minutes beginning one hour prior to the start of wrestling for each division for those who cannot weigh in on December 13.Wrestlers who weigh in on the day of the event may not change weight class. Wrestlers who weigh in the evening before the event may change weights at the scale. o Clubs that sign up for the team championship will be permitted to hold weigh ins at their club the day before providing they allow others who are not members of their club to weigh in as well and that there is a 2 hour weigh in period that we will publish one week prior to the event. • Matches for 1 through 4 place will take place at MSG on Dec. 21. Final Matches at Madison Square Garden, December 21: • Wrestlers report to the Garden no later than 6:50 AM. (You will be given a designated entrance and a credential once qualified.) rd
• All Elementary School matches and the 3 Place Middle School matches begin at 7:15 AM on all 8 mats. • Middle School Championship matches are currently scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, and would run alongside the college dual meets. Final schedule subject to change. • Instructions for weigh insand other information will be given at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds. Awards: • All entrants at the qualifier will receive two tickets for the Grapple at the Garden for Sunday, December 21 • Wrestlers who qualify for the Championship rounds must use their tickets for themselves and their coach. • All place winners receive special awards presented by one of wrestling’s super stars. • NEW THIS YEAR! – Club Team Championship Trophy for Elementary School and Middle School Divisions. Entry Fee: • Individual Fee -­‐ $60.00 (which includes two tickets to the Grapple at the Garden event) • Club Team Fee -­‐ $555.00 includes the first 10 entries and includes 2 tickets for each wrestler. Each entry above the first 10 is $55.00, and includes 2 tickets for Sunday as well. Clubs can enter as many wrestlers as they wish, but only the top place winner in each weight class will score points towards the Club Championship. In order to be eligible for the Club Team Championship, a club must have a current charter with USA Wrestling. Clubs which enter using the Club Team Fee may purchase as many tickets as they wish for the discounted rate of $18.00 per ticket. All wrestlers who qualify to wrestle on Sunday MUST have event tickets for themselves and their coach. • Team entries are not paid online. They must be paid by check. Make checks payable to MWA. • All competitors must have a current USAW card. (Cards expire on August 31 of previous year.
