Permanent Diaconate – Our congratulations and
best wishes go to Martin Farrell and his family.
Martin will be ordained Deacon for
St Mary’s and Holy Family parishes next Saturday,
Nov 1st at St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham. The
mass will begin at 11:30am and Martin will be
ordained by Bishop John Sherrington, formerly a
priest of our diocese, now Auxiliary Bishop in
Westminster. Martin will speak about the role of the
Deacon at the Sunday morning Masses at St
Mary’s the following day (Nov 2nd), and at the
evening Masses and at the 9:30am Mass at Holy
Family the following weekend (Nov8th/9th). There
will be an opportunity to meet Martin over coffee in
the Parish centre after the Masses. Everyone is
welcome to the Cathedral next Saturday.
Nottingham is well served by buses from Derby, but
for those who require transport (and those who can
offer transport), a list is available on the tables at
the back of the Church for you to put your details.
November Dead List – It is part of Catholic
tradition to commemorate and pray for the souls of
our departed relatives and friends during the month
of November. If you wish to make a list of the
names you wish to be remembered, take an
envelope from the back of Church and then either
post it in at the presbytery or give it to one of the
priests. The list of names will then be placed on the
altar at each Mass celebrated during November.
Further Masses will be offered throughout the year.
