COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course presents an overview of DBT, the evidence-based
practice that has been proven most effective for clients with
extreme emotional dysregulation. By becoming adept at DBT,
clinicians can reduce their own anxiety, and increase their
effectiveness with clients who are complex, multi-diagnostic, and
may present with symptoms such as suicidality, dangerous
impulsivity, or aggression. DBT principles, as well as specific
individual and group therapy skills, are presented. This is a fastpaced interactive presentation that consistently receives some of
our highest reviews.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Individuals who are interested in learning DBT therapy, or those
who have learned it but want to refresh their basic skills, will
benefit. This is a foundational training.

Jesse Homan,
LPC,
Jesse received
his MS from
Portland State
University (PSU). He is
currently working towards a
PhD in Social Work at PSU
where the focus of his work is
on the innovative uses of
technology to help
disseminate evidenced-based
practices. Currently, Jesse
serves as one of an elite group
of DBT adherence coders at
Linehan’s research lab at the
University of Washington.
Trained and supervised in DBT
adherence expert, Kathryn E.
Korslund, PhD, ABPP, Jesse
reviews and codes DBT
sessions for DBT research trials
conducted throughout the
world.
Jesse attended the DBT
Advanced Intensive with
Marsha Linehan, PhD, ABPP,
and is currently supervised by
DBT experts, Linda Dimeff PhD
and Amy Wagner, PhD.
Jesse has co-authored
research presentations and
workshops that have been
presented at the International
Society for the Improvement
and Teaching of DBT. He has
been a therapist at Portland
DBT Institute for the past four
years.
