St. George’s believes homegroups to be an important part of church life and would like
to encourage all adults to belong to a small group that meets together on a weekday in
the evening or during the day. The groups focus upon discipleship, nurture and socials.
If you are interested in joining a homegroup, please contact the homegroup coordinators, either Rob Ellor (tel: 62740) or Helen Jones (tel: 820963) who will gladly tell

CHURCH WEEKEND AWAY
We are planning for our next church
weekend away. We want to go back to
the Glendower Hotel in Lytham St
Annes again as people were so
impressed with it last time. The dates
will be Fri 15th to 17th May 2015.
We believe the prices will be approx…
£168 per adult (over 12)
£50 per child (under 12 )
£25 per child (under school age)
As before, payments will be able to be
made to the church by instalments.
We are not asking for a firm
commitment yet but if you think you
would like to come on the weekend
please can you sign up on the sheet
either this week or next week as we
need a rough idea of the numbers we
need to book the hotel for.
THE CHURCH OFFICE . . .
is closed this coming week.
For keys to the church hall please see
David Bailey or for access to church
see our Verger or a Churchwarden.
COMMUNION BEFORE CONFIRMATION: Any children who are in year 3 upwards
and would like to receive the bread and wine at Communion services need to speak to Matt
by tomorrow, Monday 27th October. They will need to have their parent’s agreement and
attend a learning day on Saturday 8th November from 11.30am to 3.00pm. The first
group of children admitted to Communion before Confirmation will be at the All Age
Communion service on Sunday 30th November.
NATIVITY 2014: CALLING ALL CHILDREN. Our service on the Sunday Morning
before Christmas will once again be a Children’s Nativity (with a twist). We would love for
as many of our children as possible to be involved (& perhaps the odd adult!). So children,
put your name down on the sign-up
up sheet at the back of church if you’d like to take
part. Rehearsals are likely to be on a Friday at around 4pm, beginning early Nov, to be
confirmed when we know what time the majority can make. For very young children and
those who do not want a speaking part there will be an opportunity to take part too so
please put your name down but you won’t need to rehearse until nearer the service.
PAT TESTING Tuesday 4th November. Please bring any small electrical items that you
regularly use in church or the hall for testing.
Faith in Homes: The Barnabas Family Bible: How did you discover Bible stories? Did
you read them together at home? Did adults encourage you to pray? Was God ever
mentioned in everyday life? This new resource opens up Bible stories with interactive ideas
and activities that all ages can share, as well as providing guidance and support for sharing
faith as a family. The Barnabas Family Bible (www.brfonline.org.uk/9781841017136/)
differs from a children's Bible in that it is written to promote an interactive family study
time. Find out more at brfonline.org.uk
DAY CONFERENCE AT SHREWSBURY BAPTIST CHURCH: 22nd November
10.30am-3.30pm.
3.30pm. Caring for God’s creation can be a challenge especially in today’s society
when we seem addicted to having as much stuff as possible. Come and find out more about
how Christians can care in practical ways – based on God’s teaching in his Word. The day
has been designed NOT for those who are already sometimes called ‘Eco Enthusiasts’, but
for everyone else who wants to serve God by caring for Creation – but is not too sure why
or how and just needs some help! There will be a keynote speaker in the morning, Sam
Berry who until 2000 was a Professor at Kings College London, followed by a simple
Creation Care lunch, and practical workshops in the afternoon. You are welcome to all or
part of the day to meet with other concerned and creation caring Christians. There is no
charge for the day, including lunch and you don’t have to book – just turn up. We can also
look after young children through the day. Contact: James Hindson – 07795 847137 or
[email protected] . More details are available at http://bit.ly/1wNIz48
