MEF University aims to increase the competency level of students by applying a basic transferable skills program in the first year. Course contains

are going to prepare them to university education and will allow them to differentiate themselves in business life.

English for Academic Purposes I

The aim of this course is equip the participants with the cognitive, linguistic and academic tools to become independent learners in an Englishmedium university. Academic reading and writing in the form of article responses, projects and reflective tasks. Study skills such as drafting, editing,
outlining and following accepted conventions of academic writing. Spoken production in the form of formal debates, oral presentations and informal
discussions. Presentation skills and communicative strategies.
TURK 101
Turkish Language and Literature I
3 ECTS
The purpose of this course is to improve the skills of the students in sophistication in spoken debate. It covers characteristics of Turkish language and
selected works in Turkish literature. Emphasis is put on reading; critically examining and discussing selected prose, stories and poetry. Correct use of
Turkish will be discussed with examples of narration defects, punctuation and spelling mistakes etc., and historical and cultural foundations of literary
texts will be analyzed.

TURK 102
Turkish Language and Literature II
3 ECTS
This course is intended to develop sophistication in written debate of complex ideas. It covers selected works in Turkish Literature and different
approaches to literature to answer the question why we read fictional works. Emphasis is placed on reading selected novels, stories and drama, and
writing analytical papers on them. Correct use of Turkish will also be discussed with examples of narration defects, punctuation and spelling mistakes
etc. during the course.

Principles of Ataturk and History of the Turkish Republic I
3 ECTS
This course emphasizes the identity and character of the legacy of Ottoman Empire that was passed on to the Republic from the point of view of
modernization and intellectual movements. Focuses on Ottoman Empire’s efforts to adapt to European governance and public law and the role of the
Empire in foreign politics between the first half of 19th century and the World War I.
HISTR 202
Principles of Ataturk and History of the Turkish Republic II
3 ECTS
The second part of the course analyzes the political, economical, social and cultural aspects of modernization process in Turkey; the process of
transition to democracy in a two-pole world; import substitution model of industrialization which was implemented in the 1960-1980s; liberalization
and open economy politics starting from the 1980s; social, political and cultural results of these policies. Turkey’s relations with the European Union.

This is a research course that introduces students to various functional fields of business by encouraging MS Excel use to analyze and solve various
business related problems. Students conduct case studies of real life examples, evaluate business plans and present those both orally and in writing.
The course does not have mandatory textbook. Various sources are utilized.

this course through price and welfare analysis. These cases will come from civil (property rights, contracts, compensation etc.), criminal and
administrative law.
