The Heart To Teach
Samuel 12:23
23

As for me, far be it from me that I should sin
against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And
I will teach you the way that is good and right
Before we can teach we must desire to teach.


God wants us to teach!
Sound teaching is a result of:



Close relationship w/ God.
Devotion to his word.
Diligent study.
The Physician
Dr: what is wrong with you today?
Juan: I feel a pinch in my shoulder, I just
killed a guy in football but now I feel as if a
needle was stuck down my shoulder…
Dr: Let me see… It seems like your strength is out,
and you have limited motion. It could be a tore
ligament, but it seems to me that you have a
pinched nerve.
Teach It!

How did the apostles do it?
1 Thessalonians 1:5
because our gospel came to you not simply with
words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit
and with deep conviction. You know how we
lived among you for your sake.

You too, teach with power, with the Holy Spirit,
with deep conviction, and a great example!

That’s the standard!
Why Do We Need To Teach
Salvation?


Because we are lost.
Why are we lost?


What does sin do?


Because we sin?
It separates us from God.
Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins
have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

So, salvation is about:




God reaching out to us.
Removing that sin.
Being born again.
Coming to a relationship with God.
Grace
Romans 3:9-10
9
What shall we conclude then? Are we any better? Not at all!
We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles
alike are all under sin. 10As it is written:
"There is no one righteous, not even one;
1 Timothy 2:3-5
3
This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to
be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For
there is one God and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus.”
Hebrews 2:9
9
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the
angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he
suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste
death for everyone.”
Removing That Sin

How do we get rid of the sin?
Ephesians 1:7
7In
him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of
sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.

Through the blood of Jesus.

How do we get this blood?
Colossians 1:19-20
19For
God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and
through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on
earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed
on the cross.

Faith

Taught in the Gospels, Acts, & Epistles.

There is harmony and consistency all throughout the NT.
Mark 1:14-15
14
And after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee,
preaching the gospel of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and
the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."
Acts 5:14
14
Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord
and were added to their number.
Galatians 3:22
22
But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin,
so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus
Christ, might be given to those who believe.
23Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked
up until faith should be revealed. 24So the law was put in charge to
lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. 25Now that faith
has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.
Repentance

Taught in the Gospels, Acts, & Epistles.

There is harmony and consistency all throughout the NT.
Luke 24:5
5I
tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.“
Acts 3:17-19
19Repent,
then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped
out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord
Romans 6:6
6For
we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the
body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be
slaves to sin-- 7because anyone who has died has been freed from
sin
Lordship/Confession

Taught in the Gospels, Acts, & Epistles.

There is harmony and consistency all throughout the NT.
Mark 8:34
34 Then
he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and
said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross and follow me.
Acts 2:36
36
Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this
Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.“
Galatians 2:20
20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but
Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Baptism
John 3:5
5
Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the
kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
Acts 22:16
16
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and
wash your sins away, calling on his name.‘
Titus 3:4-7
4
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done,
but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of
rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out
on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that,
having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs
having the hope of eternal life.
Reception of the Holy Spirit
Mark 1:7-8,
7
And this was his message: "After me will come one more powerful
than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down
and untie. 8I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with
the Holy Spirit.“
Acts 2:38-39
38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the
name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your
children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God
will call.“
Ephesians 1:13
13
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of
truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were
marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a
deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those
who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
Reception of the HS and Forgiveness
Happens at the Same Time
John 3:5
5
Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom
of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
Titus 3:4-7
4
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he
saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but
because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us
generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that, having been
justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of
eternal life.
1 John 5:6
6
This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ. He did
not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit
who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are three
that testify: 8the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are
in agreement.
Becoming Part Of The Body
1 Corinthians 12:13
13
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body-whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all
given the one Spirit to drink.
Ephesians 2:18-22
18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one
Spirit. 19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and
aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members
of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the
chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined
together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.
22And in him you too are being built together to become a
dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit
Conclusion

Salvation is possible because of Jesus
death.





It happens at the Cross.
It was always taught.
Faith
Repentance
Lordship Baptism
Are all important & equal
All of the NT shows this pattern.
Understanding gives you insight, so that

You will not be deceived by the false
teachings of this world.
Calling!

Develop deep and strong convictions!


Share them like Paul, Silas, Timothy in 1
Thessalonians.
Question your doctrine continually!


It is the best way to find truth and remain in
the truth.
Do not say:


“That stuff is to hard/complicated…”
God desires each and everyone of us to know
His plan.
Salvation => GOD’S TRUTH AND LOVE!!!
