LIBRARY FUNDRAISING DVD SHOWS: On Wednesday, 26 November at 6:00 pm at
Kilberry Terrace, we will show “Mary and Martha”, the story of an American and an
Englishwoman who have little in common apart from a tragedy that unexpectedly
brings them together – the loss of their sons to malaria. They embark on an epic
journey of self-discovery taking them from a remote part of Mozambique all the way
to Washington. Enlisting the help of Mary's formerly estranged father, the two
women inspire both governments and ordinary people to get involved and share
responsibility to the world's children.
MOVIE MEMORIES – SCENT OF A WOMAN – 17 November in Kilberry Terrace
Al Pacino won his first Best Actor Oscar for his brilliant portrayal of an overbearing,
blind retired Lieutenant Colonel, who decides to have one last memorable weekend
in New York before committing suicide. Chris O'Donnell is wonderful as a young boy
hired to look after Pacino for the weekend and is dragged deeper and deeper into a
very dangerous situation. Pacino becomes O'Donnell's mentor and the young man
begins to care for the irascible blind man and tries to stop Pacino's sad spiral toward
suicide. The ending is unexpected and delightful.
All Villagers are welcome to MOVIE MEMORIES film shows every Monday morning in
the Kilberry Terrace at 9:30 am. Come and join us there.

our lovely bowls setting. This is meant to be a fun introduction to those who have
never played bowls and to encourage those who have played in the past but would
like to play again. If you have any questions, please contact Graham Crimp on

HEALTHCARE – VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: Every year
we admire the beautiful Christmas decorations in Heatherton House. The festive
atmosphere is enjoyed by Villagers, who unfortunately cannot share in the many
Christmas events around town or in the Village. Our new Santa is calling for
volunteers to assist with our Annual Christmas Decorations and we are seeking the
assistance of Villagers, especially those new to the village, who would like to
volunteer and contribute to this much appreciated cause. The Christmas decorations
will be put up on Thursday, 27 November at 8:00 am and be removed on Monday,
5 January 2015. If you can help, please contact Healthcare Reception on telephone
number (021) 855 8348/9 a.s.a.p. We would appreciate your help.
QUIZ: Congratulations to the Senior Smarties, who won with an excellent score of 36
points. Our final Quiz will be on Tuesday, 25 November at 6:30 pm in the Clubhouse.
SYMPATHY: It is with sadness that we have to advise of the passing of our oldest
Villager, Mr Con Steenkamp Snr (unit 173), who passed away on Tuesday,
11 November at the age of 102 years, six months & two days. We express our
sincere sympathy to his family and friends. Villagers, who had an association with
Oom Con are warmly invited by the family to join them for a cup of tea and
refreshments in the Clubhouse on Tuesday, 18 November at 10 am to pay their
respects.

Psalm 37 verses 4 & 5
Delight yourself also in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

WINE CLUB: We had a very instructive outing to KWV last Friday, attended by 36
members. Our guide, Christine, was exceptionally well informed & made the
tour/tasting very interesting. They have an amazing history and we were shown,
amongst other facilities, old 200 000Lt Portuguese barrels dating back to 1935 that
are still in use. This was followed by an enjoyable lunch at Fairview where much
social interaction took place. Our next event will take place in January 2015.
