Thank you to our many friends who attended
Blaine’s memorial service. We appreciate your
caring support and friendship.
Rev. Margaret Lang’s service was wonderful,
Marg Oxtoby, thank you for your music and
Chatelaine for singing “May You Always
Have a Song”.
Murray Gimble, Alan Babb and Doug Fee
each told wonderful stories of Blaine’s life
and each of the honourary pallbearer
were valued friends.
We thank everyone for the cards,
flowers, donations to S.T.A.R.S., The
Canadian Cancer Society and the Innisfail
United Church.
Thank You to the the Senior Serenaders for
attending.
The lunch after the service was wonderful and the

Carol Nixon & Family
Thank You
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to
everyone who came out to our 50th Anniversary
celebration. It was a very memorable day that we will
cherish for years. There is nothing that can replace,
being with friends & family.
A special thanks to our children, Trena & Chad,
Darren & Cindy, Angie & Jason, and our four
grandchildren, Dallas, Jaret, Melissa, and Cassidy.
Melissa was unable to attend because of University
mid-terms, but we are sure she must have had a little
input to the day. We know, planning a function like this
takes a lot of time, cooperation and they went to great
lengths to make this day so special. Trena put together
a power point with pictures Darren and Angie gathered
from old albums. The flowers with hints of gold were so
beautiful around the hall and on the tables.
with a short program at 3 p.m.
Thank you to Jolene Bjarensen from Innisfail for
supplying an excellent variety of delicious food for
lunch, and Jenna Panchyshyn from Red Deer for the
anniversary cake and muffins, which were decorated so
beautiful, and were so good.

Red Deer 587-876-4944
We bid farewell to the
dearest of fathers, Carl Ernst.
Dad passed away November
12, 2014 at the age of 90
years, following a brief
illness.
Dad was born January 26,
1924 at Beiseker, Alberta to
John and Lydia Ernst. He was
born into a blended family of eighteen. At a young age
he moved with the family to the Wimborne area where
Dad resided until his passing. In January of 1944, Dad
married LaVerda Layden of the Mayton area. Together
for 63 years, they raised four children - Carol (Stewart)
Bennett of Innisfail, Frances (Kurt) Walz of Rocanville,
Saskatchewan, Linda (Larry) Cornell of Innisfail, and
Gerald (Susan) Ernst of Rimbey. Also mourning his
loss are 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2
brothers and 2 sisters.
Dad lived a quiet, simple life. He loved the land and
farmed with passion. He was a good father, teaching us
an important life lesson - learn to laugh at yourself! His
favorite line to his grandchildren being “I should kick
a hole in ya!” He was both loving and brutally honest,
which endeared him to some but not so much to others!
Dad was predeceased by his soulmate Verdie in
April of 2007 and by many of his siblings and in-laws.
Dad to us was humor, love, and a listening ear.
Thank-you Dad
A memorial reception will be held on Friday,
November 21, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the
Innisfail Golf Club. Heartland Funeral Services, ltd.,
