Vietnamese-American
Soldiers Memorial Monument
By Bob Dill
All parties involved in locating the proposed VietnameseAmerican Soldiers Memorial Monument in Greenville have confirmed that no decision has been made on the placement of the
Monument.
We regret the misleading headline in the November 12 issue.
Just back from his controversial trip to Asia where he made a
lopsided deal with China on the
environment that will punish
American businesses and penalize financially American consumers, President Obama has threatened to unilaterally and unconstitutionally grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants as early
as this week.
The administration has already
created a legacy of lies and deception to win elections and pass
legislation. It, therefore, would not
be difficult for Mr. Obama to sign
an Executive Order granting amnesty to millions of new Democrat voters. Even if the Executive
Order were declared unconstitutional by a future president or the
Supreme Court, politically and
practically, it would be virtually
impossible to reverse such an action.
The President is on record saying such action as he is planning
would be unconstitutional. He is
now under so much pressure from
Hispanics and the Progressive
Democrat leaders that he apparently believes he must act alone.
After all, the future of Democrat
rule is dependent upon building a
majority of voters dependent on
government programs that can be
used to control the dependent
voters.
Continuing to have an open
border and granting amnesty to
all that will come illegally is a longrange Progressive Democrat strategy. Implementation of the strategy would destroy the Republican Party and ensure Democrat
domination of the country for decades to come.
Reaction to the threat by Republicans is not yet clear, nor is
the extent of the Obama action
clear. Pressure applied to individual lawmakers by their constituents will likely determine action taken to stop the President

The Upstate VietnameseAmerican community and United
States veterans of the Vietnam
War have worked together for
months to develop a concept and
a scale model of an appropriate
memorial to honor the American
and Vietnamese military personnel who fought side-by-side in an
effort to preserve the freedom of
the Vietnamese people.
Factual history shows that although the military won the war, a
weary United States Government
abandoned the effort and the Vietnamese people to fend for themselves against an oppressive
Communist regime.
Members of the Vietnamese military and others who worked with
Americans along with family
members were imprisoned in “reeducation” work camps until they
proved their loyalty to the Communist regime or escaped by boat
at sea or to an adjoining country.
Thousands risked their lives to
escape and eventually make their
way to the United States. Many
of those who were successful are
now productive American Citizens living in Upstate South Carolina.
They love their new country
and will never forget the sacrifices
made by members of the United
States military in an effort to preserve their freedom.
Through the proposed memorial, the Vietnamese and American
veterans of the Vietnam War now
living will memorialize their close
bond of friendship for future generations.
Mrs. Bang Hall, who with the
aid of her heroic United States
Marine Corps veteran husband,
escaped the Communist Regime,
and is now vice president of the
Greenville area Vietnamese Community.
Mrs. Hall, accompanied by Disabled American Veteran Chapter
Commander Daniel W. Holtel, addressed the Greenville County
Legislative Delegation, Monday
evening in Greenville.
Commanders of the Vietnam and
Korean War Veterans organizations were in the audience along
with a number of men who wore
the uniform of the Vietnamese
Army and are now American Citizens living in Greenville.
Mrs. Hall said the Vietnamese
soldiers want to show their appreciation for the sacrifices made
by American soldiers “who fought
shoulder to shoulder with them
and did not receive appreciation
when they returned to this country.
“We cannot change what happened when American soldiers
came back from Vietnam War, but
today we can do something. We
would like to build a monument to
say thank you to all the people
who risked their lives and sacrificed their youth, their blood and
their happiness for us.”
Mrs. Hall noted that Greenville
Mayor Knox White has endorsed
the memorial project. It is supported by all the area veterans
organizations. The next step is to
acquire a suitable location for the
memorial.

Notes on Understanding Immigration Issues - Part 2
By Mike Scruggs
The unconstitutional
usurpation of
immigration
policy now
being threatened by Presi-
dent Obama is an unprecedented
internal attack on the United
States. Its purpose is to fundamentally change the dominant
political, social, and economic
culture of the nation by changing
the electorate. The direction of
that change will be one-party po-
litical dominance based on an allpowerful statist government favoring the growth of centralized
Federal power and big business
and radical social and cultural
change. This new charter of government would exercise despotic
powers to crush America’s former
cultural, religious, and political
heritage. This attack on the
American people and their heritage could well be aided and
abetted by the tendency of
many Republican leaders in
