PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
I would like to thank those parents who completed the online school surveys last term. Your responses and information gleaned from
those responses will assist the school in its future planning.
A special acknowledgement must be made concerning Mr Brendon Piesse who will be undertaking a secondment to the School
Curriculum & Standards Authority each Friday until the end of the school year. I am sure Brendon will use this experience to assist our
own school in its professional understanding of curriculum issues.
As the school moves towards its Independent Public School status in 2015, it is looking for expressions of interest from parents and
community members for the formation of the School Board in 2015. The Board will meet immediately after school each term and when
additional meetings are required. If you would like to register your interest or obtain information concerning this position, please
contact Mr Greg Fisher on 94461009.
REMEMBRANCE DAY 2014
A big thank you to Mrs Abadi and the school choir for their performance at the Scarborough RSL on Remembrance day. The student
council also assisted with the sale of poppies for students and staff to commemorate this special day.
SCHOOL OVAL MOWING
The school mowing contractors have requested that we ask parents and students not to be present on the school ovals before
8.30am while school contract mowing is taking place. Contractors have raised concerns about students being close to mowing
activities and the danger that this presents. Students should not be on the school grounds at these times.

WRITE 4 FUN COMPETITION
Well done to all students who participated in this competition. There were over 12,000
entries and Doubleview Primary School was recognised for outstanding writing, as less
than 2% of schools showed the same level of achievement. 38 students passed the first
round, and Oscar Holt (pictured right) in Year 5, Room 14 was awarded a certificate for
Excellence in Writing. Oscar was placed in the top 4% of entries for his writing. A Certificate
of Excellence for the school was presented to Head Boys Blayd Turner (second right) and
Tim Hogan, and Head Girls Zoe Colmer (far right) and Meg Case. Congratulations go to all
students involved for their outstanding efforts.

FRUIT AND VEG WEEK
During Fruit and Veg Week in September, both Year 2 classes designed a poster to
persuade people to include more fruit and vegetables in their diets and to promote a
healthy lifestyle. Posters were submitted to the WA Institute of Sport poster competition.
Logan Jackson (pictured right, with Mr Fisher and Mrs Clanton) from Room 5 had his
poster selected for inclusion in the calendar which will be produced from the winner’s
entries. Congratulations Logan!
INTERSCHOOL SPORT SHIRTS
There are a number of Interschool Sport shirts which have not been returned to the school. Please check
if you have any shirts at home and return them to the office as soon as possible. Thank you.
FEE, FI FO, FUM - THE GIANT
VISITED OUR
PP/KINDY CLASS!
This term in the Kindy/Pre Primary Class,
we have been learning about Jack and
the Beanstalk. We were so excited about
the friendly Giant that we wrote him a
letter and asked him to visit us. The
next day we saw a strange, very tall man
with huge feet and a big beard walking
around our playground, and then he
walked into our classroom! He gave us
some huge giant’s footprints
which we used for measuring
in our maths activity and real
beans from his beanstalk! We
were so excited for the rest
of the day! Thanks for
visiting us Mr Giant!
