Ministry to the Sick: Anyone unable to attend Mass due to illness should call the Rector y to make
arrangements to receive Holy Communion. Hospital visitations are made as time permits. If any family member is
hospitalized please inform the Rectory to arrange a visit and to be remembered in our prayers.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held daily fr om 8am until 7pm. On Tuesday Evenings, a Holy Hour will
begin at 6:00 pm with Private Prayer, followed by the Rosary at 6:15 pm; The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be said at
6:30 pm. Devotion Prayers and Litany of Sacred Heart will begin at 6:45 pm followed by Benediction.

(MOJO) The Men of St. Joseph meet the 3rd
Tuesday of each month. We are looking for new
members. Join us! NEXT MEETING: December
23rd in the Rectory Basement at 7:00 pm.
Children's Breakfast with Santa
The Children's Breakfast with Santa is a
social gathering of families to start off the
celebration of Christ’s birth. Come join us
on Sunday, December 7th from 9:30
AM to 12 Noon in the Rectory Basement. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and
$4.00 for children (ages 5 to 12).
Children age 4 and under eat free. Tickets
can be purchased at the breakfast. There is
a sign-up sheet in the rear of the church.
Please sign up so that we have an idea of how many will be
attending the breakfast and have enough Santa gifts for the
children. Save the date, and come and enjoy a yummy
breakfast prepared by our Women’s Group!

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES
In order to help us prepare for the World Meeting of Families and the anticipated visit from Pope Francis, a
catechism on family life entitled, Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive, has been prepared. Each month
for the next ten months, our parish will reflect on one chapter from this catechism. You can order a copy of
this beautifully illustrated catechism and learn about the World Meeting of Families at WorldMeeting2015.org.
November 2014: Chapter 1: Created For Joy “Love is Our Mission” because love is our origin and destiny.
Created in the image of God, a human being is created for communion, which means that loving God and
neighbor is the reason for our existence. Catholics believe these things because of Jesus, our bedrock and
cornerstone. Jesus suffered and yet persevered in love; he was crucified and yet rose again. In Jesus, we
believe that the Creator of the universe became one of us, revealing not only who God is, but also who we
are created to be and become. In a world of anxiety and doubt, Jesus is trustworthy. When we follow Jesus,
body and soul, even when it hurts and requires sacrifice, we are living lives of integrity, for only in living this
way will our lives coincide with the reason for our existence. This brings us great joy. We sin and stumble, but
the God we meet in Christ is faithful even when we are not. God’s forgiveness is a gift that gives us back to
ourselves, enabling us to embrace our mission and destiny anew. Catholic sacraments and moral teachings
serve this destiny. The sacraments are a genuine encounter with Christ, while the moral teachings show what
Christ-like love looks like in particular situations. Catholic life summons us to heroism and adventure even in
ordinary daily life. The world is charged with the beauty and grace of God, and neighbors who need our love

third, and sixth graders join together to present this
beautiful tradition which enriches our Advent journey
and reminds us of the true gift of Christmas, the birth of Jesus! Home and School will also
host the first annual “Jingle Jam” Sunday night, December 7, in the school cafeteria. Decorate cookies, dance a little, visit Santa, and check out “Santa’s Secret Workshop” for some
early shopping. The cost of the event is $10 per family, and we ask that you contribute a

First Sunday of Advent
Parish Family-Alive!
Silence
We don’t usually think of being silent as a gesture, and yet, what a
gesture it is! And what a hard gesture to enter into!
As our world gestures us to enter its noise and frenzy (especially at
this time of year), our Church beckons us in this season of Advent to
prepare a place for the Lord: to learn again, or for the first time, to
Be STILL, Be QUIET, to just BE in His Presence.
During our Advent liturgies, we will enter more fully into this quiet and stillness, to ponder
with Mary the marvelous things the Lord has done for us!
Preparing your Family
-Your Domestic church – for
Christmas
1 – A variety of “holy reminders” will be available for sale next weekend – Dec. 6th and
7th from Angels of Our Lady Religious Gifts and Books. Let your Christmas gift list
include religious Gifts – a Religious article for the home: a crucifix, statue, image of
Mary or Joseph; religious story books for the children; a Missal to prepare for Mass on
Sunday.
2 – Bring out your manger scene early (just without the baby) – Put the manger on your
Prayer Space and center your Advent prayer on preparing your family for the true
meaning of Christmas.
3 - And - Bring the figure of the Christ Child or any of your other Manger figures to Mass on
the weekend of December 20th and 21st. Our parish family and manger figures will
participate in a special blessing.
